We’ve been talking to the WebKit project and some of its contributory organizations for a while, and today we submitted a small but symbolic patch to WebKit that will bring all WebKit browsers’ CSS multicolumn support up to the level we have in Opera’s current proprietary Presto engine.

Switched very recently to Opera due to chrome's problems with Neogaf gif threads. I would hate to see it bring new problems with this switch, though I'm not really sure what it all means.

While I don't like the idea of monoculture, I do like the idea of Opera's engineers making WebKit better for every WebKit browser.

My primary browser at home is Opera and it probably will still be when they make the switch. I enjoy not fiddling with extensions to do what I want, plus I really really love Opera's internal mail client.

Just a couple of days back I switched back to chrome after using opera for months because of site issues and stuff. This is great news, and i'll be back to it as soon as they get the new browser rolling!

Think of the devices, that are not PC's, that use Opera based browsers... then yea.. it can be right.

Yeah, Opera is popular on mobile phones and tablets. Adobe uses Opera in CS. The Wii and DS have opera browsers as well.

I remember when I had a shitty internet connection a few years ago, Opera Turbo was the best thing ever.

THE NEXT VERSION OF OPERA, AVAILABLE NOW

Today we are releasing a brand-new version of Opera for you to try out. As the name suggests, Opera Next for Windows and Mac is a sneak preview of the next release of our desktop browser.

Edit: Ooohhh, they've made M2 (the mail client) separate from the browser. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Edit2: The standalone M2 is just the old Presto version - nothing new.
