So Shadow of the Giant came out two days ago. I didn't know this until about a month ago. I'm excited for it since I'm a Card nut. I doubt I'll be able to read it for a while, unfortunately, due to the ever increasing amount of schoolwork I seem to get. Anyone else get his/her copy yet?

that era of card etc is over, its the era of china mieville and alastair reynolds.

I used to really love Orson Scott Card. I still kind of do. He is a great writer.

But he was knocked down a ton of pegs in my mind when I found out he was Mormon. I thought he would be more intelligent than that...to not believe in such obvious horse shit.

Jesus fuck, I thought this wasn't out until next year. I'm definitely buying this.

It's the last book in the entire series, isn't it?

Hmm, I've been keeping an eye on it through amazon and they said it had a release date of March 8th for a while.

The philosophic mumbo jumbo in the last ender (i.e. not bean) books was my favorite part of the series. I read it as a younger, messed up kid and connected with that quite a bit.

The hardcore preaching from Children of the Mind? Good gravy, I made it like 30 pages into that book and wanted to vomit. I really dug Ender's Game and Speaker of the Dead, and Xenocide to a lesser degree, but damn, I couldn't put up with any more of his shit. It was as if the entire series was just sucking readers in until he could spend an entire novel preaching lame philosophy. It was just so ridiculous and heavy handed. That book put me off on him completely. I refuse to give him more of my time and/or money.

I really liked the idea of instantaneous travel that was presented in Children of the Mind.

What was Ender's computer-girl friend thing called again? Cortana always reminded me a bit of her.

Are you saying that once you found out his his choice of religion, it automatically made his work is no good?

I read Game through Children of the Mind, and Ender's Shadow. What are the other books about? (Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow of the Giant, and I guess there's one more?)

WELCOME TO TWO YEARS AGO!

Lovers of smart scifi should've already checked this out by now.
