Oscar Isaac cast as Moon Knight in Disney+ series

I don't know much about Moon Knight but hear he's kind of like Batman?

If true then I guess a Marvel Batman is kind of interesting and Oscar Isaac is pretty cool.

Moon knight is one of my favorite characters in marvel but very hard to nail. There are only a few writers who have hit it out of the park IMO. I honestly feel like this needs to be a mature series though to do the character justice his insanity would also make for a great horror slant to the series as well. I have very little hope for this take as it will be on the Disney channel.

Are they going to do the crazy Moon Knight or focus more on the Egyptian Gods ?
Could be good if handled by the right people.

Holy shit, if they can manage to do this right it'll be great. Getting a name like Isaac involved shows some confidence in the scripts/concept.

Oscar is too good for capeshit.

They wasted his time with three crap Star Wars films already.

The beauty of Moon Knight, and why hes a top 3 superhero for me, alongside Spidey and Daredevil, is the fact that he has three secret identities. An actor of Isaac's capabilities is needed to pull that off effectively.

He'll be brilliant. I just hope this lasts longer than the Netflix Daredevil series did. Killing that show off was just cruel.

I've only read a single run of Moon Knight so I don't know him too well but Oscar Isaacs is a bloody good actor. I'm all in.
But I'm all in for anything MCU related..:)

FFS. The other day The Watch Podcast was just lamenting the fact that Isaac is a decent actor who wasted his time doing the Star Wars films (as well as Xmen: Apocalypse) and now he's thinking of signing up for more....If you're going to do TV....do a proper Drama or some such. :messenger_dizzy:

This Moon Knight character sounds crazy.

A schizophrenic Batman possessed by an Egyptian lunar God? This does not sound like the usual Disney+ material lol

Hopefully they stick to this madness for the show and don't dilute it.

MCU is high quality with great actors and great characterisation. It's just not for you.

Check out A Most Violent Year for some great Oscar acting though.

Try making less of an ass of yourself with your wild assumptions as to what I do and don't like. The point was Isaac has done a lot of this stuff already.

Me? Making an ass?
Your post just said you don't like the MCU.
What the fuck are you on about?

"decent actor who wasted his time doing the Star Wars films (as well as Xmen: Apocalypse) and now he's thinking of signing up for more "

You'd only consider it a waste of time if you disliked Star Wars and Apocalypse, why the hell else would it be a waste of time you jack ass?
Why does it matter if he chooses to do pop culture films?

I've never been into comics, but Moon Kught has always interested me in the various Marvel games.

I like the actor too. Interested in this one.

No, I didn't. That's you jumping to a wild conclusion.

He could be signing for DC to play Batman, it wouldn't matter, the response would be the same. Capeshit whatever its form, may pay the rent, but its just melodrama. Isaac is a competent compelling actor who should be getting himself better dramatic projects that are going to earn him proper accolades. He's been around for a while now and his best period was 2013 - 2014

Then he went and tied himself up with 4 years of SW and barely did anything notable in between, aside from a bit of light jobbing.

If he's going to do TV, at least try to get an HBO gig or something substantive. Dude was getting likened to Pacino when he was surfacing.

Oh hey, Grace Randolph on her neverending woke trip is asking the question if it is right casting Oscar who is not jewish to play a jewish character.

It never stops baby. They are actors honey, hired to portray characters that are not themselves.

So you like the MCU but call it capeshit.
OK

I enjoy it for what it is, but I don't revere it (sorry), and in the case of a quality actor like Isaac having been embroiled in 4+ years of SW mediocrity already, I'm hesitant to see him commit to more of the same sort of thing when he should be looking for a platform where he can show off his dramatic range versus a Show that's going to be run through the Disney+ filter of milquetoast acceptability.

I legitimately don't get why you can't seem to wrap your mind around this concept tbh.

I do revere the MCU and I'm pretty ecstatic that Oscar Isaac is bringing his acting chops to it. He was certainly underutilised in Star Wars but being the main character in Moon Knight, that definitely won't happen here. Like I said earlier, I have only read 1 run of Moon Knight but he is a very interesting character and Marvel have got their characters very right 95% of the time. Being PG13 does not automatically cut off acting range, various themes can still be explored at that age rating. An R rating isn't required for a film/show to be "amazing".

I know what a great actor he can be, I mentioned A Most Violent Year earlier which you completely ignored.

Disney + the new home for quality Drama :messenger_tears_of_joy:

LOL. I didn't ignore it. You just don't pay attention.

Also, I'm laughing hard at the idea of revering the MCU. That's lamentable conduct. A couple of good films for sure, but a hell of a lot of fodder lets be honest.
