SOME BRIEF GUIDELINES ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO CLAIM HERE:
  • You're willing to work on it.
  • You'll update us if you change your mind
  • You may be juniored if you don't deliver on your claim (as this negatively impacts others)
  • If someone else wants in after you, work with them. You are not entitled to make it exclusively.
  • Claiming is about preventing two people wasting their time making duelling threads, it's not about excluding others.
  • If you choose to make a thread on someone else's behalf you are solely responsible for it.
  • To be reasonable - claims are to only be made for games with solid release dates OR expected within twelve months.
  • All OTs posted on NeoGAF must follow the official guidelines

I thought I was a mad hax0r and could easily update each link automatically with Microsoft Word. Apparently not.

All the links are now fixed, newest OT claims are added and I've alphabetised each "month" for accessibility.

I think this topic should be mentioned in the main gaming / off topic forums if it hasn't already - would hate to see people who bagsed OTs actually waste their time because someone didn't read this topic.

I'm also wondering what we should do if more than one person claims an OT. Should we just perhaps go by User Tenure at NeoGAF? Or is that too discriminatory :p

Dude I am so sorry, I didn't realise that I forgot to update the name after updating the links. It's a bit hectic where I'm working right now so I made a few mistakes.

I think you should also factor in qualification. I don't mean being judgmental but some people really invest time into specific games/series. I also don't mean quality of OP, art, etc... Just kind of just deserts.

I'll take Corpse Party (Nov. 22 2011), and Gravity Rush (Feb. 22, 2012). I should be fine with doing Corpse Party by myself, but may need some graphics assistance on GR.

I take this as confirmation that the Anarchy Reigns OT can be ghetto as fuck as long as the OT is filled with UNBRIDLED HEART. Or if I can get one of the 5 people looking forward to the game to help with the art.

Might be, we'll see if RL circumstances will prevent me from doing it, impossible to say yet.

I was just thinking, this may be a nice place to serve as an archive of OTs as well, going forward. At least for bigger name releases where there will be some significant effort put into them.

GAF's search isn't that great, and regular users don't have access to search through their posting history (though mods do?)

I'm linking the ones that have been volunteered for - you'll notice that Skyrim takes you to the OT.

But do you suggest going through all the areas and indexing old OTs too?

Just a question, is it fine to do OTs for old but popular games (like Xenogears, Chrono Cross) that are getting rereleases (PSone classics, VC, etc.)?

Is there an active list of new releases for games that there may be interest in making an [OT] for? Maybe some of the smaller games would be good starting points for those that want to give it a shot with minimal support and resources. There are hundreds of these games coming out in the next few months. An active release list would be very useful in thsi [OT] of a new OT just for release dates and we can cross reference the two lists.

Okay, adding everything that's been put up this month in addition to claimed ones.

That way at least we can safely say that from November 2011 we have an archive of OTs.

Also wondering if people object to me removing the (Claim Date) from the entry once the thread goes up?

I'd also like EviLore's input on how early threads can be claimed, or at least some other members input on the matter.

I don't know if there should necessarily be a hard rule. Just when it feels right I guess. I'm sure you could make a more strict ruleset if necessary though. The only thing I wouldn't want to see is claims the day something is announced, or before it's announced (in the case of a predictable sequel.)

A couple months out feels right to me, for big releases at least.

Yeah, a couple months or something similar sounds like a pretty good idea. You might want to grandfather in the people who have dibbed general 2012 games, but otherwise, if you restrict it to a couple of months, there's probably less of a chance of the poster that called dibs on an OT going ghost on us.
