Outrun 2 Chihiro Board - 512MB RAM, X-Box Console - 64MB. Differences?

I read on system16.com that the Chihiro hardware (X-Box, basically) that's powering the arcade version of Outrun 2 is utilizing a 512MB RAM upgrade module. Other than that, its specs are basically spot-on compared to the actual X-Box itself. To those that may know: Is this additional RAM actually used to increase graphical effects, or is utilized to power a proprietary display, etc? Would anything severe need to be scaled back on the X-Box port to compensate for this difference? Thanks.

I can't say much about the nuts and bolts behind it all, but practically speaking I've played both games, and the Xbox version doesn't appear to suffer any.
