I needed this today

listen here.

Spotify | R.dio | Buy from metric themselves

available everywhere as far as i am aware.

I first heard them on scott pilgrim soundtrack and have been in love eversince. This will be on repeat for awhile for me.

It has even more synth this time around and they are killing it.

I wasn't too sure about what they were doing after I heard Cascades, which I didn't really like at first, and how they turned what was known as song with no name into The Shade. But I really like the direction they went with the album, both of those grew on me. Lie Lie Lie or Celebrate are probably my favorite songs on the album.

I really like it, but I feel it tails off by the end. Three of the last five without much of Emily singing isn't ideal for me. I don't really like "The Governess" that much either. Still good, but definitely not one of my favorite albums of theirs. I still need to listen to it some more though. The later songs might grow on me.

I've always liked scattered tracks from each release but never a full album. This seems to be the same. The chorus in Too Bad, So Sad is really grating for me. :(

It's not my favorite from them, but it's good to see that they're finding a comfortable spot in more electronic-based music. I really didn't enjoy Synthetica, since it felt like a broken hybrid of typical indie rock songwriting with more digital instrumentation. Pagans is far more confident, making it a better overall listen. Cascades, The Face, and The Governess are all wonderful - while sharing very little similarity to their early work.

A few cringe-worthy songs, pretty bad imo. Celebrate is my favourite track despite those god awful lyrics. Love their earlier albums (Live It Out, Grow Up & Blow Away). Hopefully their 2016 album is better.

Really weird, I love this band dearly, seen them live a handful of times, and still listen to my favorites of theirs, but for some reason I just didn't listen to Synthetica. I loved Fantasies, but I think Youth Without Youth as a single didn't impress me. I'll definitely give this album a spin and maybe Synthetica if I end up getting back into em lol.

I really want to see Emily Haines do another Soft Skeletons solo album tbh
