lol, why do people buy their kids so many pricey gifts? Buy them one big thing and a bunch of small stuff. They will appreciate that apple tv, wii u, ipad, etc more if it's paired with smaller buys.

The Kindle Fire makes a lot of sense, because in a way it's a trojan to get them to do educational shit and reading in addition to the fun stuff. The nice thing about the Fires is that you can actually set up time limits for each type of activity. It's really pretty sweet.

That's how my parents did it. First night of hannukkah would be a game system or something in that vien, and every additional night would be books, action figures, comics et ceteta. Until the last night where i might get another game for the system.

Remember when educational toys that let children be creative were legos, tinker toys, and similar toys? Yeah now it's all technology which leads to games which leads to internet which leads to........

My 7 year old daughter gets spoiled by her grandparents so it takes a lot of that stress off of us as parents. From them she's getting a Nexus 7 and probably about 20 other presents of clothes and toys.

From us she's mainly getting clothes, some books, a couple toys, a movie. I never got a ton of things for Christmas, so when I read about these kids getting iphones, laptops, and tvs all in the same year, I wish I'd been born into that family. I typically got a box of legos that I'd been wanting, and that was about it.

Anyone have any good book ideas for a toddler? We have a ton, but we are always interested in more. Preferably newer books, as we already have a bunch of the classic picture books and such.

My eldest son wants a pair of beats pro (yeah l know) l have tried.

Younger one wants a new laptop.

And my youngest one wants a couple of xbox games, lego, books and a few other bits.

They're going pretty fast, it's hard to find for a reasonable price (though this thread did cause me to look and find it for 39 dollars! ahaha!)

That's it, before i send your kids christmas presents next year, i'm going to ask you want they want, in a shocking twist from how we usually do it.

They always love what you guys get them! This is the first year they've started specifying what they want instead of just 'star wars stuff' and the like hee.

We got yours a stuffie, I hope that's alright.

Edit: also, re: Legos. My seven year old seems to be the only one that has any skill and interest. He loves those little Lego packs that you can get with instructions to follow. The oldest just messes about and then gives up and looses the pieces lol it's hilarious. Maybe yours can teach him sometime.

My 3 1/2 old is really into Super Mario so we're going with that as much as we can.

Got him
Mario Kart 7 for my(well both of ours now I guess) 3DS
Mario Kart track - Saw this at Toys R US and thought it looked great
Lego creator set
Mario bedspread along with some Mario vinyl stickers
Hockey Net/Stick

My favorite toy when I was young was a Speak n Spell.

You in tune with young kids? Minecraft is huge amongst that set. And a hell of a lot easier than Legos. You ever tried cleaning up 10 pounds of Legos scattered all over the floor? ;)

Yeah Cars Diecast toys and crack for my little one, started with Thomas Take and Play then moved to Cars after watching Cars and Cars 2 a million times (Cars 2 is his fave).

He loves sitting with me as I help build Lego for him and has moved from kiddy cartoons to Batman, Avengers, Ben 10 & TMNT etc.

He loves Gravity Falls, they are leaving so much money out by not having merch out for Christmas.

I'm impressed with the Imaginext stuff, it's really fab.

I'm loving his age right now, the stuff he's into reminds me of me as a kid so I indulge.

Your right about ads and kids tho, they really work, he wants everything.

He also has a new thing of watching YouTube toy reviewers on the iPad, he loves it.

*high five*

I have a 2-month old who wants the same. And maybe some milk. :P
Yeah little ones are ace in the hols, perfect excuse to go and chill with them out of the way of the craziness if they need a feed/change/nap. My youngest will be 2month on Christmas.
