Huh, was news to me, I'll change topic then.

Edit: I suppose the fact that I wasn't the only one that didn't know this speaks to the millitary PR machine being effective.

it was pretty much 99% confirmed that it was from friendly fire. Initial reports said friendly fire and the story didn't really change much since then. This latest report only confirms it.

I believe it was speculated, and actually, it may have already been confirmed. Seems Seattle is late on a lot of stuff...hell, the Sonics keep thinking it's the mid 90s. The Seahawks think it's still the offeseason.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Army commanders hurriedly awarded Tillman a posthumous Silver Star for valor and released a nine-paragraph account of his heroism that made no mention of fratricide. A month later the head of the Army's Special Operations Command, Lt. Gen. Philip Kensinger Jr., called a news conference to disclose in a brief statement that Tillman "probably" died by "friendly fire." Kensinger refused to answer questions.

And I don't think the article is meant as a breaking news piece, just going over all the details of his service, death, and how the military handled it afterwards.

It was known that he died from friendly fire, but the circumstances around his death and the exact mistakes that were made are news.

he died for something he believed in. it must be nice to have something you believe in so strongly... I personally don't think there's much I'd die for. Maybe a weekend with four or five women of my choosing, and even that's iffy. It'd be pretty lame to die for sex.

One of the saddest things about warfare is that many times your lose some of your best and brightest in the conflict.
