CPU:
Intel CORE i5-2500K
3.30 GHz, 6MB Cache, (LGA1155,95W)
MOBO:
MSI-P67A-G43 (B3) ------- DDR3 1066/1333/1600*/1866*/2133*(OC)
MEMORY:
PATROIT 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-10666 (1333MHz)
GPU:
GTX570HDSC (1280MB GDDR5)
SOUND:
Xonar DG PCI 5.1 Audio Card (XONAR_DG)
PSU:
Corsair AX750 GOLD - 750watt PSU <<< Is this powerful enough for a GTX980??

Are my specs, I'm ready to upgrade my machine and wanted to know which memory I could use to hit 32GB of main memory (ram)

--- Is four of these okay? Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual

Additionally if my machine could support a GTX980. I know I'm on a PCIExpress 2.0 board but I hear they are backward compatible and I won't have any bottle neck issues with it.

I mostly use my machine for gaming, but I also like to record gameplay in 60FPS using Dxtory, some games can handle it, but recently more and more are struggling to play in high settings while recording in 60FSP (for youtube uploads).

WIll more RAM (from 8 to 32) and a better GPU help in this? Or do I need to get an I7 and just build a new machine from scratch?

I'm asking GAF because GAF helped me build a machine about 3 years ago, but my first issue was this ------ HERE and HERE And it was due ram that was incompatible, so I want check and double check before I buy anymore.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
As someone who runs 12, 32 is just overkill for pretty much everything.
95% of games won't allocate more then 4 GB due to being 32bit.

The one exception being; You plan to use a ram disk.

So are you suggesting to just stop at 16GB? I was wondering if RAM helped at all with video editing or recording, but everything I've looked up makes it seem its based on GPU and CPU

It can help with video editing, but unless you plan on using After Effects, or other higher-end editing I still don't think you would benefit past 16. I honestly think even then it's debatable. CPU is more important then more RAM at that point.

I did video editing with 2 GB of ram back in 2001, including videos over an hour long (High School Class Graduation). I'm sure the newer versions of Premiere and it's kind take advantage of more memory now though.

You do not need an i7 for anything.

I have a 4th-Gen i5 and it fucking destroys everything.

8GB ram is enough for most things, 16gb is absolutely way more than enough.

Also remember on the Nvidia....sorry Neogaf forums that Nvidia is the only way to go.

Don't even bother considering AMD.

Well with regards to video editing, does a better GPU help at all?

I feel like my i5 is just chugging along nowdays... I haven't tried overclocking it yet though.
