PC help: Gaming audio stutters

I'm wondering would anyone generally know about this.

Recently put together a PC and finally had the chance to try out some games.
Now I'm new to PC gaming so you'll have to treat me like a dunce here.

I'm having an issue in some games where my GTX 1660 will run the games perfectly but the audio will skip every 5 seconds or so. I'm not seeing any noticeable frame dips visually.

This has happened with Gears Tactics, Microsoft Flight simulator 2020 and gears of war 5. Doesn't seem to have any issues except when playing games. I'm on Windows 10 so is there any settings I can experiment with or a driver to download to help?

Seems to just be an audio issue for now.
I've narrowed down the problem to
1: Maybe my GPU settings are too high per game ( but I'm using the recommended settings and I don't see any visual dips)
2: It seems to be an issue with games downloaded from Gamepass PC (Coincidence?)

Any general suggestions or anyone else come across this. Usually of course I look online for answers but I can't find much that relates to me.

maybe some conflict between nvidia audio and your onboard, check input devices and see what's active
Ya this is my next thought.
It's one of those.. " right.. if I go down this rabbit hole I'll spend all day trying to fix it" situations haha.

I would literally need to plan my day around troubleshooting this. I know what I'm like.

Need a little more information. You are passing audio over HDMI I assume - is it going straight to a TV or monitor with speakers? The skipping is only in games? Is it there if you plug headphones into your audio jack?

Audio is currently going through hdmi from my pc to my TV and from the TV into a set of speakers.

Speakers don't seem to work when plugged directly into the pc.

I'll try the headphones idea. Good idea. I'll get back to you

When you plug the speakers directly into the PC you may need to change the sound output device.
