Penny-Arcade interview with Reggie, check out this PSP quote

The rest of interview responses were pretty fairminded though, even in so doing acknowledging some things Nintendo needed to do better.

Q: Animal Crossing DS and Mario Kart DS - network or online play?

Reggie: Mario Kart DS will be here for the holidays. It'll be in our view a lynch-pin 4th quarter title for Nintendo DS. We'll be showing an 8 player LAN capability of that system with Mr. Iwata playing against 7 other lucky folks. The game looks phenomenal, I've played it - I've gotten my ass kicked but I've played it. Animal Crossing DS is also coming. We're making proclamations about that regarding online play.

Did anyone read this? He seemed to really avoid answering the question properly. I really hope Mario Kart is not LAN only :(

If you have been following all Reggie interviews this week you would know that
Mario Kart and Metroid are both LAN ONLY games sucks yeah but very true

Animal Crossing is the only sure thing for online play
Advance Wars not sure

Hey Stop hating on Reggie just because he dissed your PSP sony boys, it's not his job to promote Sony his job is to kick Sony's Ass

The battery life is short. maybe no hour and a half short, but even at 5 or 6 hours, its still less than the 10 DS and SP offer with the light on, not to mention to lengthen the battery life on PSP, you have to change brightness settings or volume. That or buy a peripheral battery, which is a pain. If you played the PSP at max settings it the battery would tap out fast.

Personally, this is why I think cartridges are better for handhelds. No load times, no disc accessing eating up the battery life and best of all, the responsibility of maximizing battery life isn't left in the hands of developers and consumers. Yeah, the visuals and size of games take a hit, but handhelds are all about the quick fix anyway.

Handhelds are all about a portable fix... not necessarily a quick fix, sometimes the same thing... sometimes not. That applies be it handheld game players, movie or music players.

I'm disappointed with the wording of Reggie's latest Gamespot interview. He says Animal Crossing will be online. He mentions that Metroid Hunters and Mario Kart will have wireless LAN. He doesn't confirm WIFI for these 2 and admits the online won't be working till the end of the year anyeays. LAME.
