People Can Fly Suspends Projects Gemini and Bifrost, Scales Down Teams as a Result

Who knows what all these projects are, but they seem to have a shit ton of things on the go, which seems impossible to do all at once. They probably got hardly anything going on for any of them except napkin math. Get the greenlight from a publisher and then go gung ho on it.

I have always the impression that People Can Fly wants to chew more than they can take. Ever since the PS3/360 era.

Like I said, we're going to see a culling effect in the AAA space.

Only a handful of studios should even bother working on multiple projects at once.

Outriders was pretty fun, but I played it in co-op which elevates most experiences. The last two bosses could have used some balance tuning. There were also a ton of odd decisions throughout the game, like cutting to cutscenes for simple actions like scaling an obstacle or jumping over a pit.

Project Bison should be dead as well, as PCF suspended all work on VR projects some months ago.

People Can Fly recently made a shock announcement that two major projects that the studio was working on have been cancelled, and ThumbWars has now learned that one of these was the much-demanded Outriders 2.

We learned that the development team only became aware of the gravity of the studio's situation at the same time as everyone else after speaking to an insider source, who, under the promise of being kept anonymous, also gave us information regarding the cancelled projects in question. It has been confirmed (and corroborated by another source) that one of the two cancelled titles, officially referred to previously as Project Gemini, was in fact Outriders 2.

The game was reportedly "nearly finished", but due to circumstances reportedly outside the studio's control, People Can Fly was forced to cancel the project, as was publicly announced in their press release on LinkedIn.

Yes, as I remember these are the games they are working on right now:
  • Gears of War E-Day (I think this was codenamed Maverick)
  • Project Delta (its publisher and IP owner will be SIE, signed but in preproduction/prototype stages)
  • Project Echo (to be published by Krafton)
  • Lost Rift (self published PC PvPvE survival shooter, previously codenamed as project Victoria)
  • Project Bison (self published, VR)
  • Project Red (super early stages, they were looking for a publisher for this one not long ago)
Shame. I hope the studio will not close down. They are solid game developers.
They won't shut down, they are working in like half a dozen games. Some self funded and self publishers, other ones funded by external publishers.
