Ok I have one question for you all, so what if you are brutally honest, like the type of person who will always tell the truth no matter if it gets you in trouble either at work, or with his SO, friends or family and he only does it becuase he knows that way once he is tells a lie no matter the lie pretty much all of them will believe him, is that notmal or does it have a name or explanation?

Yea I don't get liars. Like what does it get you other than mask your insecurities.
It lets my 28 y/o brother get away with basically making me his slave because he can physically beat me up (and sometimes does) if I don't do 100% what he wants me to do and then get away with it by making me look like the bad guy.

I have no idea.

Ask my oldest brother. Somehow "nnnngh" while I'm lying in bed becomes "Waaaah, I don't like iiiiiiit", assaulting me in front of my friend the moment I get in the car because I "wasn't waiting outside" (I was) becomes justified, ripping *my* gamepad out of my hands to play *my* game instead of waiting 30 seconds for me to buy something from Splatoon's shop means that *I* am somehow the unreasonable one, assaulting me in the crotch is A-OK, locking me out of the h-

...Typing this is making me realize that I should probably move out ASAP and never talk to these people ever again.

Why do you live with him? Are you 18?

Don't lie about major things.

Keep lies as simple as possible

Don't drag others into your mess, tell no one you lied.

Tell the lie enough it and for all intents and purposes, it becomes true.

Lying works for some things. Gotta be damn sure it's worth doing though. Most times it's so much easier to just tell the truth and take whatever consequence might come from that. My wife, for example, is an awful liar since she can't keep stories straight and rambles on about stuff, turning a white lie into a tall tale that a kid could see through. It's funny when she tries.

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking of politics since it was a reactionary post to a recent realization in my personal life, but I guess it applies.

What do we gain from not being honest?
Peace and quiet, when you're surrounded by irrational people who will overreact at the slightest disturbance in their life. Lying is a great defense against people who have no inherent sense of fairness or empathy. Basically, what they don't know can't hurt you.
