Persona 3 - worth playing?

Beavertown

Garbage
Just got a sealed copy and was wondering if I should open it and play it or just leave it sealed and try to sell it off later?

Also, anyone know if it supports widescreen or progressive scan?

Hell to the yes.

/thread.

EDIT: Wait a month and sell off the original. It might be worth something, and the FES version is coming soon.

Persona 3 FES is coming out next month, which is a updated version with an expansion included. If you have no interest in shelling out $30 for the superior version, I'd say go for it, but if you are actually interested in playing it, I'd wait till next month.

Hold onto it now, buy FES and the original game for $30, and sell it later.

Well it depends...Persona 3 does have some nice collectables (art book, soundtrack), so it's worth keeping if he's interested in those. If he's just interested in the game, then it's probably best to sell it off, which should more than pay for Persona 3 FES.

If you don't have a lot of serious attachments to the old SMT style of games and are open mind it you will definitely enjoy it. Wait for FES though.

It is but I would reserve P3 FES as soon as possible. You don't want to miss out on that for only 30 bizzles, word.

What everyone else is saying. The game is great (made my top 10 last year), but P3 FES will be even better. The only thing you'll miss is the soundtrack, which is pretty great (esp after playing the game, when all the music is familiar).

Just make sure you actually play it at some point.

I dont think it'll be worth as much as it is now when FES comes out, so maybe try selling it now?

I love this game, so I'm not going to part with it or with FES when it comes out.

Persona 4 is looking pretty awesome too!

Do you play RPG:s?

For me it feels like a medicore anime with loads of filler episodes. The fighting and monster-farming is fun, but everything else... meh.

I went ahead and opened it..lol

Anyway.. I'm actually digging it... seems pretty cool so far and it's my first Persona game so it feels fresh to me.

I'm in the middle of P3 and I'm really liking it. Euroland here though, so I doubt we will get FES here any time soon.

Good, don't listen to the stupid ebayers.

There's also a new story (Episode Aigis) and the original story gets some soul-link epilogues added in.

Wait so the P3: FES being released here is the original+extras? No save file needed from the standard P3?

Also:

Fear's awake
Anger beats loud
Face reality
Never be charity
The enemy you're fighting covers whole society
(Damn right)
Mommy's not here gotta fight
(All night)

Right here shadow
10 o'clock direction
Seize the moment
They destroy the nation
Your rhyme is slow-motion
Give me motivation
Freaked out now
And dead on arrival

Round up around
Spit out all over
Rhyme like a rolling stone
Come in the crowd
Watch out the moon
They diss you loud
Guess what this sound
It bombs whole ground
So round up

Don't ease your pace
Cuz enemy is brutal
Moment of truth
There ain't no truce
You're the only one
One world
One love
But the battle goes on
Shadows of mass destruction

Oh, I'm not sure about that :lol Ask Error or something. But the append disc added things to the original story (like soul-link epilogues.)

You have no choice but to search for other SMT games on PS2 and play them after Persona 3. Its mandatory.

Yes, it contains the full original game, including tweaks and a additional ~30 hour 'episode'. Purchase of the original is not necessary.

Hmm well im glad I still managed to get the original...though, this probably is the best deal for those who cant find the game.

If you're confident that you will get FES and play it, then wait for FES.

If you think by the time FES rolls around you'll be off the Persona train and moved on, then you need to crack it open right now and get started.

Here's a question:

I invested like 35 hours in the original but never finished it. I'm sitting on the fence wondering if I should just finish it, or get FES and start over. What does GAF think?

Do you know where you are in game and still remember the storyline? If so, finish it. If not, FES and start over.

gaf mostly thinks you should wait for fes:) </voice of gaf>

that said: you only made it 35 hours into p3 - that's probably about half way, or even less. fes is extra stuff in the main game, *plus* an extra 30 hour episode. if you were burning out at 35 hours, waiting for fes and then replaying the whole thing might be a bit much.

if you're interested in investing another hundred hours though - i'd definitely go for fes. i wish i had, personally (i'm not so interested in going through the original 70 hours again, frankly).

Aegis
was introduced as well as three new villains, sometime around the summer months... how far in that is, I don't know, but I think it's good advice. So thanks.

I would wait. It's only a month until FES comes out and you aren't that far.

yeah, I'd just start over. you get to keep your persona compendium, even if you don't keep the rest of your progress. and you'll get to experience some of the more fun stuff like weapon fusions.

I am in the same boat. I really want to start again, but I don't remember a lot of the specifics regarding what Personas I've gathered and all of the S Link micromanaging. The anal retentive part of me wants to finish P3, but the lazy part wants to wait for FES.

Keep it sealed for eventual resell, and get FES. FES is definitively better, and cheaper. I think everybody knows FES is coming, yet P3 is still worth around MSRP, and I don't think a sealed copy will ever drop below that.

Okay, so I am thinking about getting P3. I live in Aus so will probably be ebaying from the UK since I only have a PAL ps2. Are there any things I need to look out for, like strange busted versions or anything?

Also, it will be my first JRPG for about 10 years, is it a good reintroduction to the genre. For some reason the premise has really grabbed me and it sounds very interesting, but how are he mechanics?

Anyway, any info will be appreciated.

I got my review build of FES about ten days ago, and having never gotten around to playing more than 3 hours of Persona 3 (which I bought at launch), I decided to dig into it head on. I've been playing at least three hours a night and have barely scratched the goddamn surface. Only on the 3rd full moon. :(

It's long as balls, and quite an investment. But it's a rewarding, refreshing take on the genre too -- the story can be a little silly, but that doesn't matter. The battle system and Tartarus, the game's main dungeon, will make you hate more traditional JRPG fare.
