PGR3 now with EA TRAXXX

Matlock

Banned
Early today Microsoft announced a few of the bands that will appear on the Project Gotham 3 soundtrack. The game will feature tracks by Bloc Part, Death Cab for Cutie, Hot Hot Heat, Queens of the Stone Age and The Chemical Brothers. There will be nine genres of music including indie, hip hop, alternative, and hard rock.

:lol :lol :lol

Death Cab

:lol :lol :lol

Some of the other more upbeat bands make sense, but...Death Cab? Besides, anyone not playing with the MSR soundtrack in the background is missing the point of custom soundtracks.

"indie, hip hop, alternative, and hard rock"

Far too similar, I take it this press release was aimed at Americans? God I hope the others aren't some form of rock.

I hate to say it, but I love some of the EA Trax in Burnout Revenge. (I bought some of them offa the iTMS so I can listen while actually driving.) So, bring it on PGR!

Fuck the music that comes with these games. I have much better music to listen to on my hard drive.

This album was made for driving.

Death Cab for Cutie had a video and free downloadable song way back on the first or second Xbox retail demo discs, not surprising to see further participation with Xbox-related audio features.

pgr2s soundtrack owned. so will pgr3s. ms is waaaaaaaaaaay better than ea at fitting liscenced music. i call pgrs music "world" music.

retard pack owners am cry.

Why can't racing developers follow Rockstar's footsteps? The radios in GTA not only have awesome songs, but also a fuckload of variety.

Yeah, engine sounds really get me pumped.

Wait.....No.

Each to their own. From what I've heard so far the engine sounds are well beyond anything we have ever had in games before and that is all the "pumping" I need.

This conversation sounds very homoerotic...

yeah I still have that and really liked the song.

The cool thing about the Xbox 360 is that it will stream music off of any device connected to it, including a PC, Media Center, iPod, or even a PSP with some songs on it's memcard. So fuck EA Trax and it's weak-as-fuck Death Cab bullshit. Nobody wants to race cars with Ben Gibbard whispering "I loved you Gwenevyre" like a limp-wristed hipster doucebag.

actually the tard pack owners dont need HDD for customs soundtracks........they still cry tho.

SAme thing happened with PGR2.

RETARDS can still use their ipods or any other mp3 player to play custom soundtracks. No HDD required.

MS teh innovative ;)

what are people complaining about now, that instead of using largely unknown artists pgr3 will have big name people? oh the horror!

by the way, if you miss sir-mix-alot too much from pgr2, you can just use custom soundtracks.

by the way, 9 genres. it wont all sound the same.

oh, and waaaaaaaah

I thought I was the only one who did that! :lol

That's a crap solution. Then you have headphones on and can't hear the game.

you misunderstand i think

If you own a USB music device such as the iPod or Sony PSP, you can still use the custom soundtrack feature

you connect the device to the 360

Microsoft worked out a deal with Barsuk Records, which is why there were tracks from Death Cab, John Vanderslice and Rilo Kiley on the first few Exhibition demo discs.

Still can't imagine Death Cab in a racing game. I'm pretty obsessed with them and even I haven't ripped any of their songs onto my XBox for Burnout.

On the other hand, their cover of Earth Angel for Stubbs the Zombie is PERFECT.

Am I the only one that thought the music in TD: Lemans worked really well overall?

I'd like to see a return of that type of jazzy techno (or whatever genre that fits into) in today's racers.. I personally can't stand all the crap that EA shoves into its Burnout games.

Then why did he mention PGR2?

Made me think he was suggesting that was some sort of solution with the original Xbox.

i dont know, i was referring to his 360 related comments

it sounded like you didnt know you could do that with 360 so i clarified thats all.

That's ok. I don't mind. I already did know, but maybe someone else reading will notice if they didn't know that already.

Also, my iPod uses the Firewire port, if I get an Xbox 360 - am I hosed? (I have a networked PC though, so I guess it really wouldn't be an issue).

Don't most iPod's come with USB and Firewire connections? I don't know for sure but my 4th gen has both (I guess it may depend on what gen you have). If you don't have one, I wonder if you could get a USB cable for the ipod to work with.

If it has most of the songs from Push the Button then I'm good, and Bloc Party isn't that bad. Though I have to agree with Death Cab not fitting at all. As for custom soundtracks, I love driving with Les Savy Fav for some reason.

Wow this is superold. Someone posted a partial tracklist weeks ago :P The press release mentioned in this thread is obviously twisting things though - PGR3's soundtrack seems to have a zillion more genres, even including J-Pop.

And IMO EA Trax gets too much hate. Yeah, it's sorta gimmicky, except for the music itself. I think they make great soundtracks.

i usually dont play racing games with music, but pgr2 i did a bit. i loved its quirky (but not msr quirky) soundtrack. anyone know if i'd be able to rip the tracks from the game if i loadedit onto my modbox harddrive first?

i guess i'll give it a go when i have free time anyways, just curious if anyone knows...

i cant wait to sing "cecilia" into my mic all night long
