PGR3 owners, how is Gotham TV?

All right I've been potentially thinking about picking up PGR3 even though I don't like racing games. I will play this game from time to time but I know I'll suck. Thankfully I can actually watch people who are good with Gotham TV. At least I think I can. To those of you with PGR3, how well does Gotham TV function? I'll probably get distraught by my suckitude in the game that I will probably rather watch people who are good. Give me the lowdown!

Sometimes I just watch Gotham TV for like an hour without even playing. It's really fucking cool. You can watch a live race and basically jump around to any of the cars and watch in any camera (including the cockpit, and swing the camera around and watch the scenery and stuff).

Infact, Gotham TV is probably the best way to show off the game.

Except you get to watch some really good driving instead of your own really bad driving. ;)

Like I told a friend the other day, just pop some popcorn and sit back and watch some fantastic racing. Who needs Speedvision. :lol

Absolutely awesome, MrBob. Get that shit.

I have Gotham TV just running on my HDTV in the background right now while I'm just doing chores around the house. Every once in a while I'll stop by and just check out what's happening. The cool thing is that you can just leave it running and it will just keep looking for other races in the hero channel (or friend channel but that's unlikely) and keep running those hawt live races. Really good for graphics whores like me who love playing PGR3 as much as just gawking at its visuals.

I had some friends here last night and after a few hours of drinkin and poker, I decided to turn PGR3 on. After about 10 minutes we realized we were all way to fucked to play so I put on Gotham TV and after a while we started placing bets on winners and placement. :lol :lol Switching cameras to different players to see how good they were and getting clues for the next round of bets, it was fuckin awesome!! I lost $75 bucks last night.... but it was fuckin intense and fun as hell!!

Gotham TV is one of the more brilliant and humbling experiences I have seen on XBOX Live.

Agreed. I told my friends to shut the fuck up and watch. They enjoyed it as well. We were cheering some of them on during some close races

Fairly boring IMO.

Really, I don't see it as any different from watching a bunch of AI cars race on a running demo. It's just random people you don't know driving around a track. I give the PGR3 team the thumbs up for including something like this as, as this thread shows, it will be a feature that many will enjoy.

But then again I never watch replays in other racing games either, so it's just not my thing. I like to be 'playing' not 'watching'. Also the graphics whore in me hates the replays in PGR3 since they look worse than the actual in-game (kinda like RSC2). If you leave it on any of the cinematic camera angles it can't even maintain the 30fps framerate and gets choppy a lot of angles. Normal in-game angles are a stable 30fps though.

I do however love ghosts and stuff since I can learn from them :)

I can't tell which is busted, your 360 or your eyes.

If you can't see the framerate drops when multiple cars are on-screen then yeah...

I mean even in the latest 1up video there were some replay camera clips of PGR3 and the framerate was dipping.

I think the real question is, will this approach be applied to other games?

Among the GAF Madden contingent, there's always a desire to watch the other games going on during our league "weeks". Hopefully this isn't something that Bizzare individually created tools for and it's something that's readily available to do for all developers.

:lol :lol :lol The day EA puts that into they're game, they have to much time on their hands. They still have to worry about making a COMPLETE game for the next gen, not that madden 06 "demo". Then they have to have League's running at release.

Why didn't Namco put this into RR6? :(

You must not like watching (real) sports or anything like that either.

That'd be fuckin' awesome, as all sports games should have something similar...but I'd rather have multiple player online gameplay for sports games. Imagine 5 on 5 NBA 2K7! How about being the star QB in Madden while your best buddy catches your pass and goes in for the win?

Stuff like that is necessary.

I mean, it's not like he mostly plays a genre where there's minimal interaction. Oh wai--

Man this would totally wipe out the cheesing arguments, everyone could see the truth!

Yeah, I don't enjoy watching sports at all either. I play Basketball/Soccer in RL and in games, but I can't watch a game of either on TV before I want to go do something else. I mean I respect people who love watching sports and rooting on their teams, but I like being active and a part of things rather than watching something.

heh, a story progresses towards an eventual goal. Watching a sports game is just watching a temporary win (until the next season) be earned by one of two teams. But that's another story :P

Tried looking in game and couldn't figure out how to do this so can anyone tell me if this is even possible? Can you use gotham tv to view one of your buddies racing?

If your buddy is on your friends list and he is racing live that moment, you should be able to see them in action via Friends Channel.

I believe Bizarre did this on their own for the most part, but I think MS is building a standard for Live now to support these kinds of things. I can't wait to see what else they have..
