Phantasy Star Universe's "mags" revealed

Thanks to _Tek_ from PSOWorld for the pic

They're called Partner Machinery now though. They now have the ability to fight alongside you, talk to you,

If it's like PSO they'll be LOADS of them, with secret ones like Robochao.

They also make items for you apparently, and you have your own room online which people can visit. As well as the lobbies which are now complete cities.

PSU is looking REALLY good, can't wait.

Aww, those are adorable! I know some people are going to think they're too cutesy, but I feel the whimsical touch they add offsets the more serious visual imagery in the game nicely.

'Cause enough of my life hasn't been wasted away by all the past PSO incarnations... I'm gonna get drawn right back in - I f'kn know it.

Thanks for the update.

How'd the 5th image on the right side get in there?

Unless they evolve into full fledge androids thereby eliminating RAcaseals?!

Nooo!!! ;_;

(Also - Needs more Sato)

That one was the last they show in the TGS trailer, so I'm guessing it's a rare one or evolves under special conditions as happened in PSO.

An old arguement I know, but is there really any logical reason (outside of greed) for Sega to charge to play PSU? It isn't a mmo, and if history's any indication, Sega has never been one for rapid updates, patches, etc. If NCsoft can get away w/ free play, why can't Sega?

They've said they plan on doing regular updates for PSU as its something they want to support for years. But yah, this is pretty much a case of them knowing we'll pay and charging for it. They got people addicted by making PSO free at first and now everyone is hooked.

http://www.gamefront.de has updated with some more PSU infos. The data for online games will be saved on a server and only the offline stuff (story mode) will use the PS2 memory card. These are great news because cheating will finally be impossible :)

Maybe someone wants to translate the rest, I have to go now :)

No guarantees. It's Sonic Team, man. They've never been known for their prompt response to cheaters. There are tons of dupes on Blue Burst now which is server side. Damn block crashing.

We can hope for a cheat free game, sure, but I wouldn't say "impossible".

Yeah, because there's not massive cheating on BB which has server side saving!

That said, I will be on this day one, and it will probably destroy my life like the past PSO's have. Having the little RASCEAL (sp) as a mag would be pretty awesome.

It'd rock if Sega would bump this game to 360... Just imagine the possibilities with the sheer number of Xbox Live subscribers!

as if this game couldn't get better, loving the sword-holding robot with the hero(?)

Because its fanbase exists on other systems! This is in total accordance with Sega logic.

Hmmm ... I'm a Sega fan and have a PS2. Playstation 2 is the best selling current console, so it doesn't make sense to put it on the PS2?

o_O;;

Yeah, but in PSO you've one save file for online and offline modes. In PSU their are two different save files, one is on the server (so you'll never have a chance to manipulate it) and only the stuff of the offline game (this story mode thing) is on your memory card.

That's the difference to PSO (BB).

I don't want to open a new thread so here's a digicam picture of the new Jump magazine

Sure, but not making a version for Xbox or GC does not.

Yeah! Like paying twice for online play! Just like the Xbox PSO!

ROCK

There's still hope.

TGS 2005: Sonic Team Talks Phantasy Star Universe
by Anoop Gantayat
September 12, 2005

IGN: So is there an Xbox version under consideration?

Miyoshi: There's no plan yet. Although if we did it, it would be on Xbox 360 and not Xbox.

IGN: [rubs hands together in anticipation...]

Miyoshi: There are a tremendous number of Xbox users in America, so we would definitely like to do it, although nothing is decided yet.

In a perfect world, SEGA would tap Red Entertainment, and ask to be allowed to include the android from N.U.D.E. as a high-level, unlockable Partner. :)

One thing i'm wondering, in the TGS video you see characters faces flashing on the screen at certain points. Is this to show which person is using the voice chat?
