Photoshop Question....

I do a lot of wallpapers, and there is a certain effect that I've never been able to figure out. If you look at this wallpaper, you'll see the effect. It's the uniformed little boxes in the middle strip. Anyone have any idea how that done? Is it a special filter, or just some effect that I haven't figured out how to do?

Also, anyone know how to do that effect where you make something look like it's a TV screen (you know, with the lines and all)? I'm guessing that's definitely a filter. Anyone know where I can get it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Your image is blocked. Fix it and I might be able to help.

As for the TV thing, look for a Scanline or Interlace filter, should be some free ones around.

The squares are just a pattern. Basically you just want to create a layer and draw the pattern you want. Then use "Edit > Define Pattern" to save the pattern. Once you have your pattern saved, select the area you want your pattern to fill and then use "Edit > Fill". In the dialog box, select "Use: pattern" and select your new pattern in the drop down box. Tada.... done!

Your pattern piece should look like the piece on the left, then when tiled/filled, it will produce the effect on the right. (Obviously not to the scale you want. Just making it bigger to help illustrate example.)
