I have been following this man's work for a while now. He really caught my attention with his touching, comedic, and slice-of-life story, Same Difference. All of his stuff is readily available online on his website.

Kim is a Korean-American and most of his work is inspired by that experience. He was recently presented an Eisner Award for his work, which is now collected in this neat little package:

Please, please, PLEASE check out his stuff. If you think that comics are only about tights and spandex then let this prove you wrong. I would start by reading the entire Same Difference storyline, found here on his site:

Give it a look. :) While you're at it you might also be interested in the big project Kim was also made a part of, called Flight, which collects the works of many up-and-coming comics talents into a beautiful little package. Sorry for the big picture, but I can't express in words how awesome some of this stuff looks...

I've just recently become a fan of Derek Kirk Kim's work, and all I can say is... yes, people need to check his work out ASAP.

Same Difference and Other Stories was good stuff, and I look forward to snagging Flight in the near future. Woo!
