How is streaming to smartphone?

They did already fix microstutter.
If I remember correctly, the bitrate was horrible and the image had microsuttering unlike on a smartphone where with third party apps you could have a better experience (higher bitrate, HDR and smoothness).

It has been amazing after the previous update and I've spent way too many hours in bed since then. Bring on the stability improvements.

I love my portal now. PS5 Pro made all the difference and I no longer have streaming issues where quality would slowly degrade until the connection would finally drop. I did get the pulse explorer buds to go with it but those were trash and would disconnect from my PS5 within 5-15 minutes so I had to return them. I heard that it was a common problem but I rolled the dice to try and take a chance that mine would be good.

The Portal screen is really vibrant, bright and colorful compared to my Logitech G Cloud. Definitely the definitive experience when it comes to streaming from my PS5. I also noticed that in general Sony's remote play and cloud gaming looks way better than Microsofts equivalent. You would think with all the money they had poured into cloud tech that they would at least be on par with Stadia or ahead of Sony but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Xcloud has always felt so half-assed.

I've been using Xcloud pretty often, streaming to my Steam Deck, and it just is half assed. Ha! It's still in beta. My connection is always the extremes. It's either about perfect or it's terrible to where I have to turn it off and play something locally. What I've also noticed about Xcloud is that it about never recovers. With PlayStation cloud if the screen starts getting pixelated, you can usually just pause for a few seconds then resume. Never works for me on Xcloud.

Pretty pathetic considering MS is a big cloud provider and this is part of their big push.
