Damn, just how big is MLB the Show? I think i've massively undervalued the importance of that game to PS.

It's consistently a top 10-15 seller annually in North America... At least when you consider the multiplatform sales.

I'd like to see them put more effort in the game around the next world baseball classic. This game could probably be a top seller in a few countries and could probably drive PlayStation 5 sales in a few countries. The game should also be on mobile and PC already.

Gaf: "where's PS 1st party games in 2024? nowhere to be seen!!"

Real life:

1. HELLDIVERS 21. HELLDIVERS 2
2. MLB The Show 24

Not to mention the continued sales of Spider-Man 2 and Gran Turismo 7 and sales of third party exclusives and published titles such as FF7 Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, and eventually Stellar Blade.

It's hilarious the standard Sony gets held to, when they're lapping other publishers.

The excuse was that those weren't developed by their studios and everyone was like "that's why they are relying on 3rd party exclusives" and yet...you see these lists and it's Sony's own 1st party developed games that are on top. It's kind of hilarious.

Rise of Ronin almost didn’t make top 10 in the month it released in the US. Yikes.

That's some damn good negative spin on a top ten game. Bravo....

It's a Team Ninja game which are never HUGE sellers. Not sure what the negativity is about. Nioh 2 for comparison was 8th in its first month and went on to sell over 2 million units. Yikes would be Ronin not making the top 20

When did PlayStation buy Arrowhead?
Sony owns Helldivers. It being made by a 3rd party doesn't mean it is a 3rd party game.

Do you think the publisher/developer are happy? I honestly don’t know. I thought Team Ninja was a bigger deal, but if their games are used to launching not so hot, then I will take back my “yikes”

I'm just laughing at your "almost didn’t make top 10" phrasing.

Not sure what’s to laugh at though. A new exclusive game debuts at #9 on a console that exclusives sell pretty high.

Was it the late previews that kept it from matching DD2 numbers?

lol.....ok. Probably because it is new IP and didn't review as well as DD2. Ain't that much of a headscratcher at all really.

Wtf is cyubeVR
Basically Minecraft in VR with better visuals.

Rise of Ronin almost didn’t make top 10 in the month it released in the US.
Probably the fastest selling Team Ninja game ever. Pretty likely they are very happy with these sales.

It is not a 'Sony's own 1st party developed game' as stated, the developer is 3rd party independent studio :lollipop_confused:
When did PlayStation buy Arrowhead?
Being or not published by the platform holder or by another publisher is what makes it 1st or 3rd party. Helldivers 2 is a 1st party game because the platform holder, Sony, published it.

In addition to this, if you go to see its games credits you'll see that Arrowhead -as usual for the lead dev teams of any AAA game- is only around 10% of the staff who worked in the game. The rest is Sony publishing and support development teams plus external outsourcing teams (funded by Sony, like the rest of the game).

Helldivers 2 is a 2nd party game: a first party game whose lead development team is a 3rd party studio. 3rd party studio means it isn't owned by the platform holder, Sony.
