Really hoping Naughty Dog makes a Savage Starlight game before they circle back to close out the Last of Us trilogy. Team Asobi making a full fledged Astrobot game would be awesome too.

I don‘t know how they are gonna do another TLOU. The story felt kinda finished with the last one. Unless they do something set in that world but not about Ellie. Id like them to make something like that fantasy game they had ceoncept art for But Savage Starlight would be great too.

For the first time ever Sony first party lineup doesn't sound too exciting to me. The rumored fromsoft game is probably what I'm most looking forward too. But spiderman 2, horizion arent exciting me. While im excited for the next GOW I'd rather see what santa monica is also working on, and naughty dog kind of is ghost with TLOU factions.

imho the best titles to release in a generation, have rarely ever been known the very first year of a generation.

Consider what you are excited for with Spiderman 2 isn't even announced......

So I'm hype for this gen regardless as I know we clearly won't know 100% of their lineup day 1, we have never known that lol

The PS3 and PS4 had games that I was looking forward to. They had every genre covered. Now, it feels like there's nothing to look forward to and they're still hiding everything.

Me no likey. I want to find a reason to get a PS5 instead of an Xbox, but its getting hard.

Hobbygaming

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.

Will you be tuning in tomorrow to the PS showcase? :)

If they will announce the Bluepoint acquisition during the showcase today (which is very likely), it's a given they will also show at least a teaser of what they're working on now. A Metal Gear Solid remake? We'll see.

PlayStation Studios has been busy as the PlayStation 5 closes out its first year Throughout 2021, Sony's collection of worldwide development teams has continued to turn out acclaimed hits, reinvigorate old franchises, and expand with a host of acquisitions and first-party publishing partnerships. Let's check in on the state of PlayStation's First-Party Studios.

But first, a few notes. First off, we'll be focusing on PlayStation first-party studios only. So we won't be talking about studios developing third-party console exclusives or third-party partnerships, like those with Haven Studios, Demolition Games, and Firewalk Studios. Hey, we didn't cover Housemarque for this very reason the last time around, and since then they've been acquired by PlayStation, so never say never. Otherwise, we dig into the list of games PlayStation has on the way from its various studios: God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7 are for sure on the way next year, plus Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine, along with a huge slate of unannounced projects in the works. What could new studios like Housemarque and Bluepoint be working on next? What are the unrevealed new projects from Bend, Pixelopus, London Studio, and more? We dive into all the details we do, and don't, know about PlayStation's upcoming slate leading into 2022, as well as look back on what the last games every studio released were for the PS4 and PS5.

Nice to see this, I didn't remember that SIE owned Forwardworks.

Btw, Sony (in this case Aniplex, under Sony Music instead of under SIE) bought Lasengle, a new company that is the game development part of DELiGHTWORKS. Lasengle, headed by the former Capcom icon Yoshinori Ono, are the ones who made for Sony the mobil game Fate/Grand Order, which generates over $1B/year to Sony:

Lasengle will continue working on Fate/Grand Order updates. Last year DELiGHTWORKS published (didn't develop) the fighting game Melty Blood: Type Lumina, which is one of the games included at EVO 2022.

It would be great to include it in the OP, and to update it also adding Bungie (they plan to continue working on Destiny 2 content and plan to release at least one new IP before 2025), Bluepoint etc.

Can someone explain to me WHY Sony does not put all that is gaming under SIE ??? it is mind-blowing.

I don't know. Maybe Aniplex (under Sony Music) started to ask them mobile games as a side investment when SIE was only focused on PS so keeped them there.

Jimbo said they are working to bring some of their IPs to mobile, so maybe once they start with it they reorganize that to put their mobile gaming studios under SIE.

What a waste of money that would be.
FromSoftware belongs to a much bigger company that Sony actually has invested. Not much, but still...they'd have to buy that full company.
Kadokawa, From's parent company asked Sony and CyGames for help to bring ttheir games and animes to a more global market since as many other Japanese companies were making too much products focused mostly on Japan only. In exchange for that help Kadokawa gave 2% of their stocks to Sony and another 2% to CyGames.

Like FromSoft, Kadokawa made multiplatform games but has a long story of dozens of PS exclusive games since back to the PS1. Kadokawa also own several smaller Japanese publishers and developers. In addition to games and anime, they also produce an publish mangas, magazines or books being one of the key Japanese players for these markets. As an example, one of their companies publishes Famitsu.

They had a mobile gaming and closed it. But recent Apple deal made Sony rethink everything. I hope they organise things.

No, Lasengle (previously known as the gamedev part of Delightworks) are the developers of Fate Grand/Order, a mobile game that generated over a billion revenue to Sony last year. And isn't the first year, I think the game was released in 2015 for Japan and got released in English a couple of years later. When acquired they said that planned to continue updating the game.

I just saw Fordwardworks released last year Disgaea RPG and Everybody's Golf spin-off mobile games and also released worldwide Arc The Lad R, mobile game that was already available in Japan 3 years before.

Other than Ragnarok, I can't think of a single Sony 1st Party game I'm excited for on the horizon.

Hopefully they announce some stuff soon.

Not much is known at this point. Only confirmed games are wolverine, GoW:R, SM2.

Has to be another showcase soon, I would think. I just want to see a sequel to ghost of tsushima and it be a ps5 exclusive.

Sony really needs to have Team Asobi make a big Astro Bot game.

It started with the camera mini-game game that people loved, which then led to the PSVR 'Rescue Mission', and now Astro's Playroom. All of them are great but pretty limited in their approach. It's like each one has been made for a certain type of experience and they've all been limited in their audience.

Coming from Rescue Mission to Playroom. Rescue Mission absolutely blows Playroom out of the water. Astro Bot needs that development cycle that will take it to the next level. Hopefully something that will allow for on-TV play as well as a VR mode. It really is a fantastic franchise and seems like it could eventually do Mario type sales figures if given the right treatment.

Dont care for Marvel stuff but I loved GoT.

It probably ended up as my favorite PS4 Sony game.

Are there confirmed Sony 1st party games on the horizon besides GoWR and mlb the show? There’s barely any other confirmed games besides Spider-Man 2, Wolverine and HorizonVR
