So, I bought Curse of Monkey Island awhile ago from ebgames.com for something like $2, since it was recommended highly by most people. Well, I just tried it, and within 5-10 minutes of starting it, the sound will start skipping. Some stuff still moves (i.e. water outside the ship), but if someone's talking, their mouth will freeze. Then, I can't do anything. So, basically, the game freezes and becomes unplayable.

I assume the problem is because CoMI is made for Windows '95, and I'm running XP. Of course, there's no way I'm gonna put '95 on this computer or any other computer in the house.

So.....suggestions, please? I'm sure some of you have played/play this.

Try right clicking on the games icon, going to properties, then compatibility, and check run compatibility mode and change the program to run under 95. Then try it.

Check the box for it to run under '95? That seems weird, but ok...

I believe it just emulates 95 when running that specific program. It seemed to help me run older programs like this on my computer.

If you want to play the older Monkey Island games (or other LucasArts games) install this bad boy:

These guys have done a pretty good job...most of the games play perfectly, from either real disk/CD or "downloaded" versions.

They have a few new games coming down the pipeline they are going to support. Unannounced as far as I know, but should make lots of adventure game fans happy.
