Please recommend: Lesser known third person melee based game

I'm really in the mood for some 3rd person slashin' action. I've played all the more known stuff. Every major character action game, every Souls and soulslike game, etc.

What are some lesser known "kill stuff with sword in 3rd person" games? Can be indie, AA (if there is such a thing anymore), etc. Even a bit of jank I find charming, so nothing is off the table outside of straight up bad games.

I've got the itch!

PC/PS5/Switch

Good idea. Only played a bit of the first one and kind of meant to return to the series. Thanks!
Don't forget to pet Jeane if you do!

Not exactly "melee"-focused, but I just played through Warhammer 40k Space Marine - and that's a fun time hacking through hoards of orks with a chainsaw-blade-thingy. You can shoot them too, though I guess doing that is mostly optional.

Oh shit, YES. That game is great.
The sequel is supposed to come out later this year (though, different developer and publisher meaning it'll probably be as close to "AA" as OP will find these days).

The first game was a blast though, and held up really well both in gameplay and technical terms (on PC).

I was gonna recommend Dante's Inferno and Asura's Wrath but I believe they're on Xbox (360 BC) or PS3. I see you don't have that.

Perhaps Castlevania LoS ?

Yeah, I've played it. Recently, actually. It's just pure fun.

Dark Tide is also pretty melee heavy depending on your character. Exoprimal actually as well has a melee heavy character.

I think young Kuranghi had some questionable thoughts while looking at this game cover back in the day.
young Hudo as well. As a kid, I genuinely thought that this was a porn game. Which is why I actually bothered to try it in the first place.

En Garde!

Just came out and I'm absolutely loving what I've played so far. Full of charm and wit and the combat's very engaging as well. Reminds me of Dark Messiah in places what with the whole physics-based-shoving-people-into-things-or-kicking-them-off-ledges. Lots of fun! :messenger_beaming:

EDIT: Cheapest over at https://gg.deals/game/en-garde/

English Lady called Blinkx_. Stunning woman.

So she's on the same island as me potentially 🤔 I would like to snort adult candy off her lovely big boobies.

Anyway let's abandon this line of thinking, back to the games, I'm off to take a cold shower 🚿

Have ya played Shadow of Mordor and For Honor (campaign)? I have heard a lot of praise for Midnight Fight Express as well.

P.S. I would also like to second the recommendation of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It is nothing like the movie and is a very brutal action game.

En Garde looks awesome. Iron Pineapple played the demo. It's the first game in this video:
