I'm assuming this will drop in the Winter.

I just hopped back into Pokemon Go and I'm hoping to fill out my pokedex before gen 3 drops

Nice news for fans. Hope you're enjoying yourselves.

Sadly, literally nobody is playing this in my country anymore. And it's a shame since last summer was an incredible social experience. Without this social aspect, I have little desire to go back to it.

Glad to see it being updated though, even if the peak is long gone.

What are they going to do for content after they catch up?

well that will likely be 2021 or so.

by that point ideally AR tech will advance quite a bit and they will be able to release pokemon go 2 and start again this time with you able to wear glasses that let you see pokemon and gyms and what not in real time :p

i mean either way a 5 year run for a mobile game isn't bad at all.

Normally I'd be excited, but I recently picked this back up because of the legendary madness and I'm losing all interest again. I've done 5 legendary raids on 2 different phones, yet I've failed to catch even one. (By this I mean we've defeated the raid boss, but I was unable to get any into a ball.) Being unable to catch everything I want to catch is really putting a damper on it for me. Let's hope they handle legendaries differently in the future. Especially something like Jirachi.

Deceptive.

It's just the names. Gen 2 names were added 4 months before gen 2 went live.
It's highly unlikely gen 3 will take as long though (and even still we got the babies about a month after the names were mined).

When the gen 2 names were mined Niantic was still ironing out massive stability issues and releasing in new regions, both of which were so time consuming that Niantic has claimed they set the game back 6 months. Those are no longer issues now.

Plus, being the first generation they added naturally extended the timeline of the rollout - Niantic now has experience in this department.

Also, it's been 6 months since gen 2 dropped, which itself released 7 months after the game first launched, so gen 3 is about due.

Missed out Solrock and Lunatone during yesterday's eclipse.

It they're not going to expand the base Pokemon limit you can hold, I might have to pass. Good news for regulars though
