Pokémon Presents has been announced for February 27 at 6 AM PST

Now it really is happening!

If the Switch 2 wasn't delayed this was gonna be the first time we'd have seen Switch 2 footage

But I forsee either Let's Go Johto or Black/White Remakes

Johto is a trash region with a definitive remake in 2010 and B/W were consistently shit on since their release but now suddenly everyone will be a fan.

I'm a Pokemon fan who despises the fanbase. Whatever they announce will no doubt be trash unless it's B3/W3 in the style of B2/W2 will be a return to form for the series.

So a Partner Showcase and Pokémon Presents in February, then a General Direct in April and a Switch 2 event in June.

That's a good cadence of things.

I know I am in the minority but I really want a Pokemon Let's Go Johto.
Damn, I would love one too. But only less dumbed down as Let's Go Eevee / Let's Go Pikachu. It was a cool idea, but the fact that you could beat everyone with base attack was hilarious

The other game I would love to see is Arceus-like game in ancient Johto or Kanto

Unova remakes or Johto remakes is my guess. I'd prefer Unova remakes because there is so much wrong with the already existing Johto games and I don't see them ever fixing those things.

Feels good that there are actually people other than me wishing for a new Let's Go game. Yeah, the first one had some issues, I agree, but these can be ironed out for the Johto release!

Also: Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu looks far better than Scarlet and Violet (Probably because Silicon Studio used their own engine afaik)

Very early to announce a Pokémon Direct. A week's notice is a lot of advance warning. They just wanted to get it out there to not expect anything Pokemon related in the Partner Showcase.

Man, a remake of Gen2 would almost make we want to buy a switch .... hmmm. I mean there are a lot of reasons for a switch, but its kinda old in its life cycle now, which is why I wanted to wait for a new nintendo console

I just want a true to form way of playing gold and silver on my switch, either remake or port HG and SS to the switch.

I've tried to get in to Pokémon games here and there over the years, but after gen 2 they've just lost the plot with the Pokémon designs, would have been better of sticking with the gen 1 and 2 pokemon, and just adding in new legendary Pokémon per new game.

I've just endured lets go Pikachu, just to get a modern fix of the good games, please don't lets go gold and silver.

Black/White remake or already a new generation.

And for Christ sake make a decent game, not that catastrophe Scarlet/Violet. The most bugged game in franchise history.

Was this a leak or is it a mockup? Judging at how have the pokemon games been releasing these past years, I find it super plausible. No gen 10 until switch 2

A mock up that was liked by a known leaker, so of course people over reacted. GF wouldn't have the balls to make a such a game.

B&W remake must be next, but it'll probably be almost identical to the D&P remake.

They honestly need to move on with the next game or a spin-off, because SV is a disgrace in every aspect. They really need to go back to the drawing board with that one.

This sound shitty enough to be true. Game Freak choosing ICLA again to do remakes is exactly a Game Freak move.

Fuck...
This is exactly why I'm on the fence with this rumor. GameFreak just loves doing safe approaches to almost everything they do and this one sounds like a classic GameFreak. But either way we will find out next week so it's not like we have to wait long

Ehhhhh

Shouldn't it be White Silver?

I mean it's Black Gold, so colour, metal. Why switch it to metal, colour for the second one? It still sounds weird either way.

But I would enjoy a Gold/Silver remake, as long as it has some actual effort put into it.

They usually get Nintendo Direct to announce garbage ingame events to remind people that SV exists and play it. Their main deals are then announced in their own event.

As far back as 2013, and occasionally more recently at the June E3 event directs, they will sometimes do a trailer for the big holiday Pokémon game, but for the most part new announcements are always in a Pokémon direct and not in any kind of Nintendo announcement video.

So, PokemonGAF, as someone who's never played the games, or got into the media stuff like the anime or the live action movies, but owned all Nintendo hardware, where would be the best place to start?

My friends still don't believe me that I bought the GBA SP, just to play the other Nintendo 1st party stuff and 3rd party titles like Tekken Advance, Castlevania titles and backcompat GBC titles like MGS Ghost Babel, and think I'm lying to not want to associate myself with the Pokemon games lol

On Switch specifically?
Honest in terms of pokemon, I wouldn't recommend anything. I also wouldn't recommend a single GBA pokemon tittle, because I find them absolutelly terrible.

I recommend going to DS. Pokemon Black and White is an amazing game, even for starters because of the amount of positives the game has that makes training better, without actually making the game easier.
Platinum is also a pretty good and solid game. I honestly wasn't a fan of Hearth Gold Soul Silver (felt dissapointed when I bought the game and didn't like it), but thats just me.

On 3DS Pokemon XY eehh...it has its short coming because of how basically bland and barebone is. But still a game to pass time and one of few pokemon games I could level to 100 naturally.
The reason I would suggest playing XY or even Sun Moon is because of Battle Tower. That one is for people who are really into the game and the CPU is brutal. If you don't play well, Battle Tower will shape you up. Specially Sun and Moon Battle Tree, I played countless times with my brother.

GBC there is no wrong, just play Gold and Silver.

Makes sense to have a big Pokemon release for the end of the year if they plan to release "Switch 2" in 2025 I guess.

Palworld killer. Here we go
If they'd let Nintendo co-develop in a real way, it could reinvent the genre and easily best projects like Palworld.

I've never quite understood why we didn't get a Nintendo in-house development project using GameFreak only as collaborators... perhaps GF just has too much stubbornness to turn over the development, but clearly they lack the talent to move the franchise forward on their own.

Might be fake but this image is making rounds on Reddit. They haven't nailed the date for the showcase but thought to post it here

After the huge amount of criticism of BDSP from basically everyone I can't believe gamefreak would do the same thing again.

Which is why I absolutely believe this could be true. This is exactly the type of absolutely maddening decision I can see gamefreak making.

Would honestly love to see a bamco developed true pokemon game.

Sun and Moon are a great place to jump in. They're pretty modern games with some nice quality of life features and they have a good variety of pokemon available to catch. A laid back setting and story that explores some new things.

The older pokemon games are definitely less hand holdy. Fire Red/Leaf Green are amazing remakes of the original red and blue and a wonderful place to dip your toes in.

The switch games feel largely experimental. It's almost as if you can feel the series fatigue and gamefreak is just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

I have criticized Pokémon heavily since gen 3 and on, but I think they can definitely salvage the future games and at least attempt to bring them to some modern standard.

Whatever the next big game is, I think it should have voice acting of some kind. I don't expect every piece of dialogue to be voiced, but the at least the important dialogue with some sound bites.

The scale and energy of the battles should at the very least be on the level of Pokémon Colosseum/Battle Revolution. Having announcers like in Battle Revolution gave so much life to the battles.

I hope the future main titles build off of Arceus Legends and its more action-based gameplay and implement more alternative ways to interact with your Pokémon and the environment like in Palworld. I don't want it to be a survival crafting game but have secondary uses for Pokémon outside battle and incorporate how their natures impact their fighting and temperament outside of battle. I also wouldn't mind spin offs with aspects of the Pokémon world outside of just battling like being a detective with Looker and using Pokémon to solve mysteries with more open-ended/less handholding gameplay and story driven. Speaking of story driven, can we PLEASE get another Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game. I am begging you TPC.

I didn't like Sun and Moon. The lack of gyms was a huge turn off. They possibly also have the worst starter Pokémon of any mainline game. Absolutely up there with Gen 8 starters.

Bring back Pokemon: The Trading Card Game (GB/GBC) in a modern iteration... those are the only games in the franchise that I truly enjoy.

Pokemon cards are still wildly popular, but the official TCG app is awful, and disconnected from all the fun of a story or adventure. Just create a new game like the classic GBC ones where you explore in a world of pokemon players, win cards, build a deck, and take on an actual adventure story in the process.

Worst take in history. The lack of gyms is one huge reason WHY Sun and Moon were great. EVERY other pokemon game has the same gym schtick. SM was a breath of fresh air. Also Rowlet exists so your opinion on the starters is wrong.

Lol. Sun and Moon is, IMO, the worst mainline Pokémon game.

I love collecting my gym badges and then taking on the E4/champion. One of my highlights of the games.

Rowlet is an okay starter, but better than Chespin? I think not. The other two G7 starters aren't worth discussing.
