So I thought about this given the fact that Pokemon Go was purchased by a Saudi Arabian company a few years ago. Would a classic Pokemon game do well on mobile if it is backed by Game Freak themselves?

Of course Its Game Freak so it would be better to have a competent company work alongside them to actually make the game run smoothly on phones.

Impressions? Thoughts? Would it open the pandoras box of making super potion micro-transactions?

Sure. With the way Pokémon games control they would work just fine with only a touch screen.

They could just release the Pokémon GB-GBA games on mobile if they want. People are emulating them anyway.

Yeah I'd work just fine. But I wouldn't hold my breath for it to happen, we don't even have the games on NSO.

Pokemon Red/Blue $5 each.

Think that's all it would take to conquer the app store. Then a year later Yellow $5

Repeat staggered launches for each gen every few years.

No, they better spend their resources in order to make a good 3D game up to todays standards that goes beyond nostalgia as a selling point.

Or.. get this… rather than go through the chore of catching 'em all - why not let people buy 'em all instead! Think about it - classic style pokemon, but you can use real money to buy pokeballs and evolve your roster! Kerching!
