Switch 2 is seeing great sales off the back of Pokopia!

I expect similar results across the globe tbh, this game is creating a buzz.

What are your thoughts Gaf

If Switch 2 has sold more than PS5 in 2026 in the UK of all places, feels Sony has listened too much to their fanboys thinking Europe is dead for Switch 2, talk about overconfident.

I could see switch 2 being over 50 percent of sales. Switch 1 probably being around 15 to 20%, ps5 25 to 30%, Xbox lucky to be 5 percent.

I see Sony losing more share in April onwards and Switch 1 / 2 picking up the majority of the slack with xbox maybe seeing a few points improvement if they have stock available. Unless MS moves pricing like Sony, which is a big possibility.

Seen this in Poland last week.

Still waiting on at least 3 Switch 2 games to wow me personally.

Is that the first time we can tell that a secondary pokemon title is really selling well ?
Pokemon Stadium games on N64 sold pretty well for its time, and the Mystery dungeons games on DS sold pretty well as well, but this could be the first Pokemon spinoff to sell over 10M copies.

Yep im one of them, got my wife a Switch 2 yesterday for Pokopia. Best to jump in now before the prices go up.

Alrighty then, Pokopia is a legit system seller. After I finish Resident Evil I plan on picking it up. I'm just too curious after all the buzz.

I suppose if it moved a significant amount of units in the UK, it certainly did in the US. Wonder how long Pokopia will keep system sales up.

But like, Mystery Dungeon doesn't have this affect.

Just like this recent Call of Duty...

IP being strong doesn't mean you can make a shit game.

Pokemon most of the time have the power to increase hardware sales.

If Switch 2 Christmas sales were mediocre, it's because early adopters jumped in fast and there just wasn't enough good games to sell it to more people. Pokopia (a 9/10 game apparently) is proof of this. Nintendo needs more good Switch 2 exclusives.

It is a very special game, really happy to see it doing so well and driving console sales, even. It's going to have legs for the entire Switch 2 lifespan, probably a 20 million+ seller.

Animal Crossing still feels more cozy to me. Pokopia feels frantic by comparison.

My wife thinks the same, but I think she's trying to rush to get to the "maintenance mode", but the game is HUGE, I told her to take all the time she needs to do things and enjoy.

Getting to "Maintenance Mode" (i.e. you've got all the Pokemon and completed all your environments and are just checking in on things every day for fun) is probably like 200+ hours of gameplay, if not more.

For me it's been the opposite.

ACs approach to limiting how much you can do in a day never really worked for me. It makes you feel like you have to play every day or you're missing out. Maybe that's my fault for being compelled to min-max everything.

Pokopia on the other hand doesn't really reward or punish you for when you decide to play. At most you get a stamp for logging in once a day, but if you miss it no big deal.

Yeah, but thats the stage she enjoyed the most in AC, she has 400hrs on that game.

Good news, as expected great games results in great sales. Its time for Nintendo to do a new general direct and appeal to non-pokémon fans too start buying too

I would not buy a Switch 2 for this game, but if I had a Switch 2 I would probably buy it. Not even a fan of Pokemon, but it seems like a lot of fun.

This game was a huge surprise, since nobody saw it's coming and how fun could it be. There's a lot of spin offs that doesn't sell that much, even thou are great, like Snap

Talking about IP, not about the game.

Thats not a surprise. Pokemon as a IP is very strong, even a bad game about Pokemon can sell a lot.

Not my type of games but it's a great game apparently. The switch 2 needs more of those of they want to maintain the momentum.

The switch 2 sold a lot in the beginning due to the good will accumulated from the switch 1, but this has run out so they really need to start improving their output from now on

I'm not a Pokémon fan either. It was Omega Force and Dragon Quest Builders 2 that pushed me into a purchase.

Game is fun but just like Dragon quest builders 1 and 2

I lost the will to play after 20 hours or so.
Just the same shit just rehashed in a different area

I'm not really a fan of these types of games, but I did end up beating it. It was excellent! I'm ready to move onto something else, though.

My wife will be glued to it for the rest of the year. Easily.

Just wait until the REAL heavy hitters drop/get announced. The platform is going to take off and never look back. The market is going to look very...interesting...8 months from now.

Good buddy of mine loves this, said it's the best Pokemon he's played in decades. Must be doing something right, as he's actually a pretty big Pokemon fan too, he makes fan games and all that, so I'm gonna assume it's pretty damn good. I'm pretty curious to try it myself one day.

I still think Pokemon will be key for Nintendo this gen, specifically in getting the more casual players to upgrade.
Games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash Ultimate are already so content packed that it's going to be tricky making a new entry that casual players will feel is worth a $500+ upgrade.

But Pokemon still has a ton of room for improvement and you can easily make new games that feel like massive upgrades over what's available on Switch 1.
