Pokemon Snap Announced for Nintendo Switch

Immediate hype.

But why the heck are the graphics Wii U level graphics...

Hope there's more than 10 stages.

...Day 1 though, probably.

could you imagine any sort of pokemon game given the same work and effort say red dead redemption 2 gets? i.e more than 5 clicks in the games factory

Is this first party development? Might pick it up for the kids but not if Nintendo is charging full price and tacking on future content passes. I think if this is more than $20 then I'll pass

Bandai Namco is developing

Not sure why people liked Pokemon Snap so much. It was a pretty boring game tbh..

Dito. It's why I can't bother with racing games. When I want to drive a car, I play GTA5.. When I want to explore the Pokemon world, I play a mainline Pokemon game. Well, I 'would like' to play a mainline Pokemon game with such graphics and world, if Gamefreak ever stopped being lazy.

My only real experience with Pokémon as a kid was with Pokémon Snap on N64. I use to rent it a lot. I'm thrown back by its existence.

It probably depends on how old you were when you played it.

From the lens of a young child obsessed with Pokemon, the game is simple and rewarding as you 'capture' Pokemon through the lens of your camera.

With the gyro controls and portability the Switch really is as good a time as ever to bring back this franchise.

It's not really my thing though, and it's probably going to be $60 too.

And yet it still looks "next gen" compared to Pokemon Sword/Shield LOL

At lest for me as a kid I liked it because it was the closest we had to a game that would let you explore the world of Pokemon with cool home console graphics.
It's kinda sad that with the mainline games stuck in "HD 3DS" land, that's still sort of going to be true for this one

The world's chillest rail shooter returns.

I hope they go overboard with all the picture bonuses like "center of frame" and "eating a Pokeberry: +100 points" and so forth. Replaying stages and capturing unique scenes that you missed before (like Pokemon playing together, or swinging in a tree, or whatever) was also a lot of fun. Based on what I see in the trailer it seems like they're doing exactly that.

Really happy to see Nintendo finally bring this back. Long overdue. Now please don't nickel and dime all the content.

Hype!

Now, the original wasn't a great game or anything... but it was fun. It was one of the many, many N64 titles I could always go back to, play a few levels, and enjoy them. And that's something I miss these days. Even racing games need to have some story and upgrades and whatever that just make me not wanna pick it up anymore after completing the game.

I want more games that just let me pick a level and go.

Nice, I'm curious what Pokemon they will cut though... I hope my favourites are in!

My concerns...

Can we play as Todd Snap, because it looks like a different protagonist?
Can we play as a female photographer and choose our gender or is it locked to the male protagonist as indicated in the video.
What Pokemon are we seeing cut from the game?
Are there any extras? Pokemon database of Pokemon photographed?
How many levels?
Are there planned expansions or is this a complete game?
Will pictures be rated with principles and elements of design like the rule of thirds, etc.

That's a good remark actually. I tend to feel similar to this as well, I sometimes really miss the start up & play access to games. I have the feeling that the New Snap will not be so straight-forward, though.
