I just got these. :D

The subwoofer box is huge. It looks like in this pic though. I haven't started using them (yet!) but I already hate those cloth thingies on the speakers. You can rip them apart if you push in too hard. Of course there's no reason to do that... Still, I have to be extra careful around those with a coke or anything. =\

I was thinking about just getting headphones instead but I settled on these.

Klipsch promedia 2.1

Detailed highs
Midrange is good but lacks impact
Powerful bass up to its limit, which is a bit higher than I would like

sr125.gif

Unforgiving highs can be a bit too harsh and tiring to listen to
Midrange and bass are both great, but the low lows are a bit weak due to the open design
Ugly as shit

I don't have speakers, but I have these headphones.

They sound reeeal nice, but within a couple months the plastic broke where the metal extension comes out. I use a wire tie to keep it from falling apart.

Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultras. Pretty much the best PC speakers. No logitech comes close because all of them are way too inaccurate and have loose boomy bass.

Tho I hear Creative has a new high end set that beats Klipsch at satellite speakers, but looses in terms of bass.

i have the jbl creature speakers on my imac. For the price i think they are great, the sound quality is good and they get plenty loud to listen to itunes anywhere in my apt. For the price i think they are tough to beat

I wish I had room for a 5.1 set up, but the Mrs. would kill me if I used up even more space with computer crap.

I'd like to get a set of 5.1s for my laptop and an Audigy 2 ZS notebook PCMCIA card. But I've got a corner desk, so not sure how I'd arrange 5 speakers. :lol

Impressions? Incredible sound that won't break the bank if you use headphones a lot.

I have these to use in conjunction with my Panasonic DVX100 camera, they work very well. Cut out outside noise very well.

For my speaker set up, I have...damn, I can't even remember (I don't have my desktop at school, just my laptop:().

The A500's aren't apparently a huge step down from these either. But really for headphones it depends on the application.

Yeah I use px100's but not from my shitty onboard sound card. Was thinking about getting the A500's but thought the better of it.

So many headphones. Terrible for hearing.

Pfft. I just use an audio out cable and connect my onboard sound to a reciever which has two 100 watt speakers. It isn't surround, but it sounds better than most people's PC speakers. Even the ones with the two little speakers and the big subwoofer that you pay like $100 for. :D

I have the Sennheiser HD280's too. They're very comfortable, sound great, and are a closed headphone so what you listen to is relatively private. At least according to headphone.com they're the best closed headphones you can buy.

The only real downside is they're pretty big.

Quite sad.
It's a temporary solution - since I'm away from home.

When I get back, I think I'll invest in a nice 5.1 system.

Send them back to bose it's considered a manufacturers defect, i have the exact same ones and have sent them back 3x since jan 04' heh (my latest pair are actually starting to crack again so i'll be sending them back soon). I actually paid for shipping the first time but the last 2x Bose has paid for the shipping costs. Great sounding headphones and they're comfortable but damn if they aren't made like shit.

As for speakers i'm using a set of Klipsch 4.1's and i love em.

Nice sound quality. Without the bass that makes the windows shake when I listen to Disposition by Tool like some other speakers I've tried. Surround sound would be nice but I don't have the space for all those speakers. Exactly waht I need at this point, nothing I don't. Two thumbs up!

Sony D66 Eggos. I love these things. Very neutral sound with tight bass and they're good for portable use. I have a laptop so I don't use the speakers at all.
