I hate to be the ignorant one here, but what's this about? I'm sure it's based off a book or something that I simply never heard of, but this keeps kicking around the GAF undertow and I never much bothered to really sink my teeth into it. Any explanation is welcome.

Everytime I see Heath Ledger I just think back to his forgettable role in The Patrior or his despressing supporting role in Monster's Ball. Despite being a fairly visible actor, he still just conjures up a clean slate when I try to associate him with anything. Hopefully this turns out to be one of Damon's better films and not another Ocean's 11/12.

Pretty much my thoughts. I love Gilliams work, but all that has seemingly happend since the movie was finished, the delays and all, makes me wonder. That and i really dont like Heath Ledger. Still, im sure i will see it opening weekend.

I thought this movie was going to be some sort of biopic, until I saw the trailer. Looks kinda interesting, but I don't think it'll manage to escape the clutches of BOMBAGE Inc.

Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm known as The Grimm Brothers were born at Hanau in Hasse-Kassel, Germany. Jacob Grimm the second son, was born on January 4, 1785 and Wilhelm Grimm the third son, was born on February 24, 1786. The Grimms were a large family of nine children, eight boys and one girl. Their father was a lawyer and after his death they set out to Kassel to attend law school and to follow in their father’s footsteps.The Grimms had been collecting fairy tales from the people of Hesse since the early 1800’s. They had a favourite local storyteller named Marie Muller.

In 1812, the Grimm Brothers published their first volume of eighty-six stories and tales. In 1814 the second volume contained seventy stories. The stories were a success and the brothers were recognized for their work in 1819 with honorary doctorates from Marburg University.
In 1825 Wilhelm married Henriette Dorothea Wild. Through the years the brothers were working as librarians in different Universities.

In 1838 they began the work on the thirty-two volumes of a German dictionary, which focuses on history. Within the next ten years the Grimms resigned from their teaching at the university of Berlin and devoted their time to the completion of the dictionary. The Grimms did not live to see the final edition of their German dictionary.

Wilhelm Grimm died on December 16, 1859 and Jacob Grimm on September 20, 1863.

Just about anything that opens the last weekend in August will bomb, period. It certainly doesn't show much faith from the studio.

You're exaggerating a lot. It was originally planned for November 2004, then February 2005, then November 2005, then it got pushed up into the summer (July 29), then delayed another 4 weeks. I wish they had stuck with the July date, though -- then it might have had something resembling a chance...
