Holyshit... I meant this as a reply to the other thread. I must have clicked the wrong button.
Can somebody lock this?

Video card sucks if you're playing games.

At least a 6600 GT. With that CPU, go for the new stuff. 7800 line. I don't know anything about it, I'm out of touch with video card tech. Lost interest because consoles will beat it at the same price (system versus card...)

If I jump down to a gig of ram to save money, what video card should I get with it? The only game I forsee myself playing is FEAR.

What's the purpose of the machine?

Why such a strong CPU, and then weak video? Are you encoding stuff?

I use photoshop, I want to be able to play certain PC games coming out, and I'm looking to do some video editing in the near future.
I downed the RAM and saved some money. What video card should I get? I don't think I need top of the line-ish

I'm probably not the best person to ask that.

I do know that you shouldn't get a 6200 bargain card.

Your mobo is able to do SLI. That's allows two cards to run at once. Good for extremely high resolution games, and I think video software.

I'd say at first, get a 6800 GT, or 7800 GT. I'm not familiar with the 7800 series but it seems the 7800GT is the 2nd fastest, behind the 7800 GTX. I'm also not familiar with prices anymore, or if you can use an Ati SLI setup on a Nvidia SLI board.

Later when prices go down, you could get a 2nd card of whatever you buy.

Now, 1 GB of Corsair Value Select should be like $60. Unless they're totally ripping you off. It's not going to make up for the video.

Also, dual core processors may be good for what you're doing.

Here are my suggestions:
1. Swap the mobo. Go with Asus or MSI
2. Case is freaking ugly
3. Ditch the sound card. On-Board quality is great these days.
4. No reason for SLI if your getting such a low video card
5. Your needs would fit dual core

That looks good. Will the 6600GT run FEAR alright?
Thanks so much to everyone giving advice.
