(PR) Rockstar Games Announces Bully (PS2, Xbox)

Press release supplied by Games Press 13:38 09/05/2005

New York, NY- May 9, 2005 - Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) is proud to announce Bully for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and Xbox video game system from Microsoft. Bully takes the Rockstar tradition of groundbreaking, innovative, original gameplay and humorous tongue-in-cheek storytelling to an entirely new setting: the schoolyard. Bully is the brutally funny debut title from Rockstar Vancouver and is expected to hit retail shelves in October 2005. Bully will be shown behind closed doors in the Rockstar booth at E3 (324 South Hall).

"We are really excited about the first title to be developed by our Rockstar Vancouver studio," said Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "We fought hard to keep this title under wraps for ages and I am thrilled that we can finally unveil it to people at E3."

As a troublesome schoolboy, you'll laugh and cringe as you stand up to bullies, get picked on by teachers, play pranks on malicious kids, win or lose the girl, and ultimately learn to navigate the obstacles of the fictitious reform school, Bullworth Academy.

I dunno, I think the thread that ACTUALLY MENTIONS THE DEVELOPER AND GAME NAME in the title should be the one that stays open. :)

yeah i agree... i didnt even see the other thread

"So it begins..."

why do people make such vague topic titles? it was like when the gamespot donkey kong jungle beat review was online and someone made a thread something like "OMG GAMESPOT ARE GONNA DIE FUCKERS"

I hate your face.

Seems like they're gonna wait for the media to find out that "you can shoot up the school", jump all over it, and stir up controversy, which'll mean more sales.

Wow, this could be even more controversial than GTA and that is saying a lot. Parents should really go crazy on this one

Sales should be through the roof.

This game sounds really fucking cool. Hopefully it's not some generic, unoriginal game gameplay-wise with the cosmetics of a "bully sim" thrown over it. If it really is like a bully sim, or almost like some kind of bully RPG, that would fucking rock(star)...hahaha!

Sounds interesting, little bit like Skool Daze. Does anyone else remember that one? :lol It was too fun to give fingers and write dirty things to chalkboard. :lol

But I always caught the god damn chicken pox :(

I guess I was the only one who thought it was going to be based on
bully-poster04.jpg

Althought I was wandering how they would make a movie about this...

In the first post.

Never mind, just looked it up...Rockstar Vancouver was Barking Dog Studios before Rockstar bought them out.

From an old Gamespot report:

"Barking Dog Studios, Ltd., based in Vancouver, British Columbia was founded in 1998 by Brian Thalken, Peter Grant, Sean Thompson, Christopher Mair, Glenn Barnes and Michael Gyori, and is the PC developer of CounterStrike Beta5 (a mod for the best-selling CounterStrike series of games from Valve), Sierra’s Homeworld: Cataclysm, and Crave and Electronic Arts’ Global Operations. The studio currently employs approximately fifty developers, and is working on a yet to be announced military video game to be published under the Rockstar brand, and will soon begin development on a second original video game title for Rockstar.
