Prepaid cell phone

I want to get a prepaid cell phone. Not for me for someone else. I want to be in the 50 dollar range for the phone and want it to have a color screen. Does anyone know any good providers and phones that would be good?

Some general advice - make sure you read the fine print, especially about expiration of minutes. My mom bought one a year or so back for emergency use, but the 500 minutes included on it expired 90 days after activation, so she had to buy more when it came time to use it. Since pre-paid minutes tend to be pretty expensive it really sucked.

Virgin Mobile... It is threw the Sprint Network.

The phone K10 49.99 at target.

Plans

Minute by Minute 25 cents per minute and 10 cents per min after 10 mins

Day to Day... 35 cents per day and 10 cents per minute

Month to month... .well that one is hard to explain but its better than all the rest if you plan on using this alot.

No, no, no. Virgin Mobile suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. Under their pricing plan, I spent $100 in phone cards in 3 months.

I did some research, ditched that and got a T-Mobile To Go flip phone. SO much better. The phone cards for their plan give you minutes, rather than denominations; I've had mine for about 2 months and with the $15 credit that came with the phone plus a $25 card, I've still got well over 100 minutes left after plenty of calls (and the fees of DLing a generous handful of wallpapers and ringtones). Plus once you spend $100, you become a gold member and you'll get even more minutes from the cards (IE a $25 card would give you 130 minutes initially, but after you become a gold member the same card would give you 150 minutes).

The phone is nifty, too. Flip-top, color screen, plus has these lights around the edges of the clamshell that you can set to do different patterns for different tasks. I got it when Target had it on sale for $66, but I think the normal price is $80.

Yea i decided to get t-mobile. I bought a sim card on ebay for 20 bux with a 120 minutes built in. And im going to buy a phone for around 40 or 50 dollars colored screen with Caller ID display on the front. So not a really bad deal.

Can anyone help me find an unlocked phone on ebay that has a color screen and is a flip with caller id on the front for about 50 dollars including shipping.

tmobile sells "starter kits" for $79 in stores like Target & Walgreens. Phone & some minutes.

on the web they had $30 rebate last week (probably still there).

they're the best plan prepaid overall.
