Press Screenshot Discs?

I've got my eye on some some odd disc that's popped up on Ebay. It's supposedly some "press disc" for a game. It's going for stupid amounts of money, but I don't think I'll post the Auction here, in case some lunatic with a fat wallet decided to buy.

But it says here:

"Product And Payment Details
You are bidding on a Sega Dreamcast screenshots disk

I can't figure this one out. It doesn't load on my Dreamcast or my PC. It doesn't appear to be either format but there data here. Is it possible it is a Mac disk? I don't know. So it is being sold as is. This disk was never sent out to the public and is very rare."

So, anyone in the know have any idea what you would need to read these things?

Link to the auction? I'd have a fair bit of that kind of stuff that I could sell :P

All mine are regular PC cd-roms.

edit - ah, looked it up, $90. It's probably a little more collectable than any of mine, what with the Sonic print on it etc. Still crazy money..

Anyone know what autographed stuff (videogame personalities) tends to go for on ebay? I've rarely seen any of it. I could do with cashing in on some stuff..college is pressing :(

edit 2 - wow, there are no bids on it, surprise surprise. It's a little presumptuous of the seller to put such a starting bid on it if no such discs have gone for similar figures before.

Unless it's confirmed as not FAT32 compatible, or it has a bunch of image formats his PC doesn't understand -- I personally wouldn't touch it. Especially if its going for a lot of money as you say.

Man, if they are selling this crap for $90 I am going to make millions :lol :lol :lol

I'd love to know if this is legal though. Press discs are just for the journalist/magazine they are sent to, if I can sell my pre/review copies @ eBay then I am sitting on a bag full of cash money.

Meh :P

I'm assuming they're something like psd files which he doesn't understand.

What other stuff have you got gofreak? Any Sonic-based crap?

A disc of screenshots is definitely not worth 80 bucks though. That's just stupid. I'm only interested in them for my website, there might be a few interesting ones in there.

Mostly Nintendo stuff, and mostly press related. Don't know if I could get away with selling it. My most highly prized one is a Miyamoto-autographed Spaceworld 2000 conference book (it's a really nice GC/GBA foldout book - he's autographed one half of a foldout, and doodled on the other). I doubt it's of much value at all..I feel like I should hang onto it for a few more decades until Miyamoto becomes a truly recognished legend ;) His autographs are also a bit personal - if he does a doodle for you, apparently he does it based on the person he's autographing for.

And yeah, screenshots usually are super-hi res photoshop files.

Oh yes.

Not to mention the DC Betas that go for up to $200! Jesus. I wonder how much stuff like debugs go for?! *Need eBay account*

What's the difference between a beta and a debug?

I've got a few press discs from random games. Only a few come with some actual cover or something printed on it. Most of the time it's just a convenient set of whatever is up on the press materials sites, like huge JPGs or PSDs.
