Primitive War trailer - Vietnam War with Dinosaurs.

One could say it looks retarded

Would have been better if the Vietcong were riding them, America just didn't know they had dinosaurs in their army when they went over there.

I'm always up for a big budget creature feature. Asylum and the like totally ruined the genre with the super low budget Lake Placid vs Mecha Sharknado crap.

This is the kind of movie you'd see in the direct to DVD bargain bin for 9.99.

How this gets a theatrical release, who the hells knows. Some deep pockets floating around the film industry.

Looks AWESOME! Dumb fun.

Vietnam era military tech was so cool. Early IR/thermal stuff, basic radios, some electronics, but mostly just cool guns, grenades, claymores, and helicopters. No drones, real-time satellite imagery, banging on computers to get answers, spinning holographic displays, none of that crap. Glad to see that period get more representation. Kong Skull Island was another recent one with a similar vibe.

And in reference to the WARFARE thread, OF COURSE they put a chick in it :P

Looks like even more feathered raptors. Giant chickens, here we come!

I've never been more certain that Hollywood is just a money laundering system for Mexican drug cartels

Lol Hollywood what happened

I found out that this is an adaptation of a book.

The book also has decent reviews. Who knows. It might turn into a cult classic.

If I don't see film grain it's either gotta be a TV show or a super high budget blockbuster. This just looks cheap.

This looks like something they would play on the Comet channel on Antenna TV.

One raptor has a knife in its eye, so that we can distinguish it from the others and is likely the leader!!!

Edit: I forgot I had another joke:

It turns out that the real monsters all along were the Japanese in WW2. Oh my gosh guys I knew they were bad but it's way freakin worse than I expected

So I just saw this today in theaters. What a pleasant surprise this movie was.

Obviously it's not ultra high budget, but the CGI was still decent. The big compliment I can give this movie is that it's a real "guys" movie. The characters were invested in the story instead of standing back quipping at everything that happens. they played their roles well, mostly serious with small moments of levity throughout. There was a girl introduced halfway and I immediately thought "ah well, here comes the girlboss" but she ended up having (big) flaws and was relatable in her own way by the end. The dinosaur encounters were way better and more exciting than any of the last 3-4 Jurassic movies. They were a threat, but not nonsensically so. The soldiers were allowed to kick ass sometimes, make mistakes sometimes, be strong, be stoic, be scared. There was no overarching brow beating towards a modern day "message", there were just some vague Russia bad, Vietnam War bad stuff, that never felt like preaching.

It very much gave me the feeling of good 80s/90s action movies made for men. Highly recommend seeing this one if you're into that.

Also, there were a few families in the theater with small kids. I don't think they researched the movie very much because there was a ton of violence, guns, shooting, and swearing. I wouldn't recommend taking kids to this one, at least young ones.

*edit*

Looks like the kind of movie I usually like, based on ratings. high viewer score and low critic score. (forgive the washed out pic, Win10 doesn't play nice with HDR in screenshots).

I want to watch this, how does amazon prime rent work? While i watch the movie can i stop or rewind to see a scene again or you can't do shit because it's a rent?

And, is the 4k quality streaming of amazon prime actually 4k?

'Rented titles stay in your video library for 30-days from the date of the rental. However, once you press play on the rented title, you have at minimum 48-hours to finish watching it.'

So you can pause, rewind, watch a bunch of times if you want.

I saw it last Thursday at an AMC special screening.

God it was dumb in the best way possible. Sometimes good, sometimes bad CGI, hilariously fake accents, and Jeremy Piven just scene chewing when he's on screen. The audience I was in was loving it.

What surprised me was the first half spent a lot of time building the characters out. But then the second half just goes nuts.
