never actually bought a printer......used dad's old ones all these years and the office ones. Kinda lost about the printer space, especially looking at the daylight robbery ink cartridge prices

- will likely just buy the black ink only cartridge to refill, cheaper the better
- not heavy use, for home and light work use
- scanner please

Get a laser printer. Toner lasts a lot longer than ink cartridges. I use a brother at home and work.

I just bought mine because it was wireless (it is awesome being able to print from my phone), but I am sure the cheaper one would work just as well.

Nope. Other brother printers might have extra features, but the actual printer process should be about the same.

Picked up this Brother Laser recently on Amazon for $99. Fantastic printer, fast and cheap. Doing heavy duty with home use and kids school. Also has a scanner and airplay print.

Buy a Brother MFC laser printer.

Some models are more finicky than others. Sometimes wi-fi doesn't work well for some SOHO setups because existing wi-fi router is just bad and hates everything.

Cartridges (TN-450 variety) are constantly on sale.
