Problems with PSP connecting to Wireless access points?

My PSP connected fine to my WAP when I got it, but since then I've upgraded to a Belkin pre-N turbo G super dooper WAP/router. Its running in WAP mode, connected to my router/modem by ethernet cable. IP addresses handled manually, with no WEP and MAC address filtering.

Everything else connects fine, but now I can't get onto the internet with my PSP. It seems to connect to the router, but internet access fails (in either network update or network settings). So it might be a problem at the modem end.

I haven't changed anything, so its odd. Anyone else had problems with theirs? or anyone connecting ok with a separate WAP connected to a modem?

I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything.

I have a Belkin Router too, but not a Pre-n, it's just G. Is your WAP/Router set to "G-only mode"? It will have to be set to "mixed" or "b-compatible" mode for the PSP connection to work. This will slow down everything, unfortunately.

The "G-only" is also notated as "fastest" whereas "compatible mode" is usually notated as "slower".

im having some problems too

keep getin "cant find access point" but i dont know if this means i have to register my PSP MAC adress with my router.

Thing is, i forgot my admin password ;/

If you have MAC address filtering activated, your PSP won't get on to the access point until you add it. Likewise, if you have your SSID broadcast turned off, it won't get on either unless you tell it the SSID name to the PSP manually. But on the back, there *should* be a tiny reset button, which sends the thing back to its factory defaults, including the password. Do that, assuming you remember the default username/password.

If it doesn't work in mixed mode, go into the interface (should be 192.168.2.1 in your browser) and try changing the settings. Channel & SSID: I've got mine set to 54G Auto. Proprietary speed boosting (turbo modes) among a family of products mightn't work either... I've got the Belkin Wireless G HSM Router and a normal Wireless G bridge connected to my Xbox... they don't work together well with HSM enabled.

If your wireless network is password protected / encrytped, you're gonna have to account for that by using the correct settings on your PSP and notifying your router of it's MAC. If you're having an open wireless network, provided the things are talking right to one another you shouldn't have to change anything.

If your router/AP has a little reset button on the back:

1) unplug the power from it
2) use a pin/needle/drawing-pin and press the reset button down
3) while still holding it down, give it power again and wait a few seconds

It should be back at Factory settings, including default password. This is how it works on the Belkin stuff anyway.

Guys thankyou.

My PSP picked up the SSID, i done a scan and it found it. Im gonna restore the factory settings then
