I have a new P.C, what are the must have programs?

On my list I have (antivirus and firewall came with the pc so thats sorted)

-Firefox
-Azerus bittorent client
-google talk? (how does this work, anyone willing to try it with me?)

what else do I need? please post what you consider important to an enjoyable PC experience.

list must contain nothing that costs money!

Google talk works really well, for what it's for anyway. No direct connect/transfering like in other IM clients, but to text/voice chat, it's great. Not many users at the moment though.

oh also, the place I live, I'm going to have to ask the landlord for portforwarding on the router to enable bittorrent to go (as its protected) any other must have programs require port forwarding?

not a program but I always turn off the messenger service in administrative tools (isn't the same that msn IM), or you will keep getting pop-ups that aren't from IE.
