non gameplay screens do nothing for me

Same here.
That said, this went from being very ugly at E3 to being super impressive at x05.
I now love the way it looks in-game.

"but Test Drive looks better and uses 70k less polys!" FU!!!! pgr3>>>>>>*

edit* is that REALLY another cars reflection???? OMG if so!!!

Yes, it is. They said cars reflect each other in their last update.

fuck this photo mode stuff. It sucked when gt4 used it to hype their stuff and it sucks now too.

actually, its one of the features 'm most excted to play around with in pgr3. more games should have photomodes

So what is the number of polys used per car model? 80k, 90k, 100k? It's a shame they can't get rid of all the edges with that sort of polygon budget, is this a developer problem?

looking forward to seeing my car looming up in the reflection of the car in front coming into a slow corner.

it varies from car to car with an average of ~96,000 i think (from 80,000 - 105,000).

more than the racing? honestly why not release some REAL ingame screens.

of course not more then racing. but it still will be loads of fun to play with. Noone, with the exception of the dipshits in charge of releasing pd0 media, releases true in game shots. why do people bitch about this sort of thing?

i suppose last gen you could argue that for many games (gt4 especially) the PR shots were not at all indicitive of the final product as displayed by a tv, but i imagine with next gen HDTV support, this really is how the game will appear on your set.

i see edgies ;)

btw. this shot:

looks kinda cartoonish... hopefully it's just that screenshots and the compression. i don't want to ride a cartoon-ferrari in the age of HDR.

If I may interrupt the jizzing, are any of you actually going to notice the cars reflecting each other while you're zooming around the track at 150 mph?

i'm sure it will be noticable when racing from the cockpit or bumper when coming up behind other cars

as op_ivy said, it'll be all too obvious when coming up quick on another car in a slow corner/chicane. the reflection will grow quickly then shrink as he pulls away. Should be cool, and emphasise the bumper to bumper racing nicely.

Also, if you pull alongside and glance to your side to check the position of the other car, you'll see yourself (wonder if you see the driver looking over? )

BTW, can you look 360 degrees with the stick? I liked the analog look on Forza, but then it snapped back after about 90 degrees. It'd be nice to glance at your 3/4 view.

I like how people still make "It's photo/replay mode pics! Where are the gameplay shots?!" acting like the PGR team is hiding something while totally ignoring the existence on many many gameplay movies... well done.

Unrealistic, sure, but horrible? Nevermind it's just Oli. I'ill move along now.

It looks like a toy car with solid rims that is out of place in its environment.
Since the 3D screen of PGR3 I've been really impressed. As impressed as I was with the teaser screen from just prior to E3.

:lol the game will be OUT and people will still say this.

you know that when a car starts to move, you can't see the individual spokes in the rim anymore?

Sorry, I do see your point, they do still look kinda dumb. But then PGR was never about photorealism. It always seemed 'beyond real' to me. Real cities, real cars, but everything else was OTT.

I'd be disappointed if Forza 2 or GT5 looked like that, but IMO its a great look for PGR.

I was going to post the same thing.

i've seen gameplay movies of PGR3 and have been very impressed.

i just don't understand why people care about screens like these.

i'm not really graphics whore, so i guess that's why i don't get it.

WTF do you want to see a gameplay screen for? gameplay screens dont convey the same action as if the game were in motion. replay screens can.

So why can the Bizzare get AA and motion blur at the same time and no one else can seem to?

BTW, for those that have see it, does it really look as good as the Xbox-Summit Hi-Rez Video, the 720p one? Watched it again this morn and it is so close to Photo Realistic its crazy.

It would surprise you how many gamers race for 3 laps having no fun at all just to watch those sexy replays afterwards.

It looks exactly like the Xbox Summit trailer. And I would not really call this photorealistic :)
Btw, can you believe there was a new trailer at X05 and NO ONE cought it on tape, not even me? It was shown on the big screens during the party so I thought it would be shown on the next day on some HDTV display where I could tape it correctly (too much smoke in the party room), but it was nowhere to be seen on that day :(

but still these screens serve no purpose other than to make the game look better than it does.

Booh :(

Well I would call it close (as I did :) ). Bright crisp colors and textures look more real than muted blurred colors trying to mimic a TV broadcast, but I must be in the minority there. I have seen it on my monitor and on my HTPC / 52" HDTV and just WOW!

The the Xbox-Summit trailer looks WAY better than these screens. WAY better.

Who cares? It's not like there aren't tons of gameplay videos out there.

Blimblim said:
Indeed. It was just like the Xbox Summit one, but in another city.

crazy. cant believe this is the first i've even heard this. was it only one city, or did it feature the other cities? surprised bizarre hasnt released an official version, they were pretty quick last time, werent they?

Kabuki Waq said:
than why are they releasing these screens and NONE with actual gamepplay or even replay shots

Because it makes the game seem unappealing.

Why do movie trailers just show the tense/funny moments and not an actual chunk of the story? Same principles, employed. It's to draw you in. Gameplay shots are boring, IMO. With this generation, I'm not worried about games not looking like that on my TV. I'm fairly confident they will all deliver.
