Daytona, Spike Out, Monkey Ball, F Zero AX/GX

so i dont think its Monkey ball since PS2 got one already and its not "BIG "

and F Zero is for nintendo

the left is Daytona and Spike out [ If its sequal game and not new IP game ]

Project J is apparently the type of game where the voice acting staff is important enough to appear at the unveiling event. Daytona and Spikeout probably wouldn't fit the bill.

Why announce a big PS2 title this damn late? I won't even want to play it by the time it comes out :P

They might have saw that developers were still making good money off the PSone once next gen systems came and have decided to stick around with the PS2 this time. From the looks of their next gen lineup, thats what I think they could be doing.

Well if the PS3 ain't coming out until late 2006/early 2007 there's still almost a year that needs strong PS2 games.

Amusement Vision are alive! (sort of :))

No idea what this will be, I'd have been very happy with Super Monkey Ball 3 but this sounds like something bigger than that.

In one of the last Amusement Vision interviews I think he said they were working on some networked game that was totally original? Although now that all of Sega's teams have effectively merged it could be anything really with just him as producer, such as Eternal Arcadia 2.

My bet is on something original though, the 'Project' games usually turn out to be new franchises - Project Rub (Feel The Magic), Project K / K-Project (Rez)

Edit: Since the Sega Sammy reorganisation, Toshihiro Nagoshi is now head of New Entertainment R&D #1 which is focussed on developing new content for consoles/arcades. So does seem likely this will be a new franchise.

Yep it's him (Produced and directed by Yu Suzuki in the jingle)

By the way there is also Project S on PSP not revealed yet...

It's not a BIG project if it's on PS2, nextgen better :)

wasn't "project j" an early n64 game for anime pedophiles? i distinctly recall that it was!

It's set to come out this year so its not like they just started the project. Rogue Galaxy is another big game that's been in development for a long time but it was unveiled last month (and its also due out at the end of the year).

Heh, that'd be Wonder Project J2.

The original Wonder Project J was on SNES and starred a boy robot instead of a girl robot.

I'm betting it's Nagoshi's 2nd (formerly) Live exclusive project.

Too bad their own PS2 sales are in steep decline. Sakura Taisen 5 sold about half what Sakura Taisen 3/4 did and Pro Yakyuu Tsukurou 3 sold only a third what Pro Yakyuu Tsukurou 2 did. Sega's JP PS2 sales are in the crapper... seems iffy to throw high profile titles like J Project or PS Universe it's way given their track record on the machine. Maybe they're hoping for the west to pick up the slack, but then multiplatform would probably the safest way there. :/

That might have some sense behind it, assuming they had better sales elsewhere... perhaps sega is just going down the crapper?

Pretty much. Sonic is their only guaranteed seller these days, after mishandling hit franchises like Virtua Fighter, Super Monkey Ball, Shinobi, Sakura Taisen, Baseball/Soccer Tsukurou, Derby Owner's Club, Phantasy Star Online and Sega Sports.

Well if they sell it for:
Xbox - they sell 50 copies in Japan
GC - they sell 5,000 copies in Japan
PS2 - they sell 25,000 copies in Japan

Might as well make it for the system that'll get the highest number.

I think taking a risk on the newer platforms might be more worth the investment then. Start working on building up a new fanbase to last you the next 5 years rather than floundering in the overcrowded, high competitive, super casual PS2 marketplace.

Who's to say they aren't doing that as well. I don't get this rush to the next-gen that everyone's on at the moment. Everything, every game, should've been ported to this or that. It's funny that people complained about lowest-common denominator ports when the gap was just the PS2 to Xbox. Now people are wanting quick ports of current-gen games on next-gen machines, where the gap between potential and the actualisation that original current-gen assests allow is even greater. When I get a next-gen machine, I want the game to shine, to be true representations of what the system is capable of. If you find yourself wishing for barely upgraded ports from last gen on your shiny new machines, that's the universes way of telling you, you jumped the gun too soon.

Sure Sega make some stupid decisions but I think they are undeservedly getting flak for this one. Why is this different to Okami or Black or Starcraft: Ghost or Rogue Galaxy? I haven't seen half as much moaning about them being new franchise for the current gen in the numerous threads about them, but in one thread about a Sega game and it's all "oh Sega are so stupid".

How's that proof that PS2 sales are in a slump and that its just not that those series have faded off? Didn't the new Super Robot Taisen sell 470k in its first week?

Bah! What franchise will Sega destroy for me next? That will be the question when this game is revealed.

Is the new Super Robot Taisen a Sega game?
