Soz if wrong forum, I've been trying to google it but cant find a solution.

Anyone know if there's an app out there to do this?

VCD's on PS2

But you want to play them off of the HDD or stream them from your PC correct?

Hmm...
http://www.broadq.com/ will stream, but it costs money.

If Reality Media Player will play files from your HDD the best solution for that route would be to install it on the PS2 memory card via the memory card exploit. Then you simply trigger RMP via a PS1 disk. Getting the movies on the HDD may be a bit more difficult. However, I believe the new RMP can access USB memory stick devices so that would probably be the most convenient route. A 512 or 1GB USB stick should work great.

So...
For HDD/CD/USB
1. Install RMP on PS2 Memory Card.
2a. Purchase compatible USB stick
2b. Create VCD via the above guide
2c. Find out if RPM can play from HDD and figure out how to get files on it.
3. Have Fun!

or

For Stream from PC
1. Purchase BroadQ
2. Have Fun!

*Do a search for PS2VFS.
I think somehow you can infact get RMP to stream.

Gameshark Media Player is the latest version of the BroadQ.

The server disc installs a linux app.
The PS2 disc runs it.
It'll work on any computer with nearly any file.
All that it's missing is playing while browsing and album art.

Actually I'm trying this first instead, I've created an ISO of the PS2 Reality Media Player 1.50 CD which I'm going to ftp to my HD.

Crossover cable to the PC, install ps2vfs on the PC, set up IPs in the same subnet and I should be right to stream DiVX from my laptop to the PS2.

See 'networking the player' at http://www.ps2reality.net/users/opeh/150/main.htm

Fingers crossed.

Do please let us know how it went.
I've got my PS2 networked with XP Pro so I might try this too.

By the way, a really fantastic video converions/compression tool is Virtual Dub.
I've been using it lately with some custom filters.

If you take a 640x480 video and do a 2:1 reduction filter you get half the file size with excellent quality. There are some really old threads on filter chains at ars technica.

clean up dirty source video. There is a thread somewhere on keeping high quality sources clean but I can't find it. I'm kinda new at the whole video compression thing.
