So with the current gen falling away outside PS2 (in Japan especailly), and Revolution having dramatically lower target performance than the other next gen platforms, should 3rd parties maybe start looking to late term current gen products for upgraded Rev porting? Products that probably would've found a viable market on GameCube in past years, should they targeted at the same base for Revolution in 2006? Some examples...
Tales of the Abyss (Namco/Tales Studio) Symphonia GC ranks as the best selling Tales game in history thanks to it's fantastic western performance. Might be too late for a GameCube port but maybe western Nintendo fans would return for a nextgen version?
Soul Calibur 3 (Namco) Orignally headed to GameCube anyway, an upgraded Rev port might be a good launch sales driver for Namco and help make up for dissapointing PS2 sales. Releasing on Revolution might also escape Sony's exclusivity contract, plus the possibility of adding Nintendo IPs helps drive consumer interest. SC2 sold exceptionally on GameCube, you'd think Namco would want to continue appealing to that new base.
Phantasy Star Universe (SEGA/Sonic Team) A GC release was ultimately ruled out thanks to it's lack of online strategy, but Revolution seems to be a different matter entirely. PSO sold best on GameCube in some markets and Naka's already hinted at a nextgen version of PSU... is it just a matter of time?
Ookami (Capcom/Clover Studio) Clover seems pretty pro-Nintendo and all their products have performed best on the platform. Ookami also looks like it'd appeal more to the hardcore Nintendo crowd than the massive casual PlayStation base, with it's unique cell-shaded artstyle and Zelda-esque design. Might be a good canidate.
...any other games that might make good port choices? Maybe even some double packs or collections of older stuff that'd likely strike a chord with the Nintendo crowd (Katamari 1+2, Kingdom Hearts 1+2, Crazy Taxi 1-3)? How about upgraded PSP ports (MegaMan PU, Megaman IHX, Ridge Racers, Lumines, etc)?
