PS3 + Nintendo Rev combo for the win?

Really, no doubt about the PS3, but between the X360 and the Nintendo Rev, I think with the new potential for just... something dramatically different, gimmick or not, or a second rate console, which is really what the X360 seems like right now, I think the Nintendo Rev is a pretty damn sound choice.

Both PS3 and X360 will share ports aplenty, while the Nintendo Rev is just completely out of the equation as far as ports are concerned. But like the DS, it could be alot of developers will be drawn to the gimmicky nature and try out a lot of new things; it could also serve as the low price development alternative to X360 and PS3, both which tout multi million dollar graphics.

In terms of value for money then, in terms of gaming exclusive coverage, and play experience, the PS3 and Nintendo combo is pretty much unbeatable.

Combined with the lower price on the rev, and I really hope that the rev will secure enough confidence in the market to place it squarely as number 2, and a continuing source of unique games.

And seriously... Nintendo does the whole iPod imitation thing so much better than X360.

But X360 will have most of PS3's ports and its own exclusives like Halo and Bioware RPGs.

I see things staying pretty much the same as it was with PS2 and XBox. Most of the big 3rd party franchises like MGS, GTA, and RE will end up on both consoles. I don't see how things would change that much in the next gen. Except Sony and MS flip-flop in terms of who has the slightly better looking graphics.

So I don't see how a PS3+Rev combo is that much advantageous over a Xbox+Rev combo.

I don't get your post. It's all a matter of preference, dude. Personally, I'm going for Revolution-only. I don't need so many games anyway, only a few every year at most.

Yeah, it's all a matter of preference, really. I don't think we'll ever get to the "one-console" future that we all hope for. You probably still have to buy all 3 to play all the great games available.

yeah ill get a ps3 or 360, AND REV

and then pick up the ps3 or 360 later on when its cheaper

I like owning all current systems and having a fast pc

play games NOT companies!

or something.....

Rev+PS3 is a perfect combo, if you consider the fact that Japan will bailout on the 360 eventually.

I had my GC+PS2+GBAsp which was a nothing but pure SEX.

This gen its all about Rev+PS3+DS and maybe after a price drop the PSP....

Yeah.. I'm betting on the Rev+PS3. What I've seen on X360 this far hasn't really impressed me so I'll probably go with he PS3 for the traditional console experience.

Not to Derail

Im kinda leaning towards a PS3 first myself

I like my xbox but when I look at my shelf its 99%"better" 3rd party ports and Conker (yeah no halo sue me, sold em both)

if next gen ps3 has the "better" 3rd party versions AND the exclusives its really a no brainer + revolution

Hahha, although I find the PS3 stuff far more impressive, I'll still buy JP and US X360. And Revolution, too.

Blah blah blah.

Send me an extra 1k, and I'll be in for all consoles easily :p

Ignoring Xbox 360 would be ignoring probably the biggest game next gen, i.e. Halo 3. No I dont think that would be a wise decision.

I just bought a a64 4000 and 6800gt pcix 2 gig rams! dont tell me this (I NEEDS MY QUAKE 4!)

and zap seeing how much people blow on TVs and home theatre crap (not to mention ridiculous game collections) all 3 at SOME POINT shouldnt be too hard

Hopefully we will be back to just Sony and Nintendo within a year or so.

The PS3 and Revolution are only topped by my anticipation to own a 2600 a long, long time ago.

It's time for MS to just pack up and go home.

For me it's all about the games. Graphical demos are not what I base my console purchase on.
And the only game that draws me to the PS3 right now is MGS4, and that is in no way a game that will make me buy PS3 over a 360.
A 360 that has Oblivion, PDZ, PGR3, GR:AW, CoD2 etc on launch day(or "window")
Then on the horizon you have Halo 3, Fable 2, Bioware RPGs, Squenix' RPG, Mistwalkers two RPGs etc.

For me it's 360+ Revolution combo for the win.

PS3 + Rev for me also.

I'm not really a huge Halo fan. If Perfect Dark Zero is unbelievable then I'll maybe rethink that.

It's too bad Rare is with MS, PD Zero would be more interesting with its sci-fi/futuristic theme on the Revolution.

Blu-Ray on PS3 is a big deciding factor for me too, because I want to play some HD movies, but I don't want to invest in a standalone Blu-Ray player just yet.

If you buy consoles for just a couple of exclusives, then you'll need all three.

If it takes more than that to budge you, then PS3 + Rev is a good combo.

PS3 will likely have slightly more exclusives than X360, and multiplatform games will generally look better on PS3 - I expect it to be both more powerful, and the base platform for most publishers next generation.

Depends if you want to play all the great titles or just the majority. I for one couldnt have gone this gen without my halo, gaiden, rallisport, kotor , pdo etc.

i'm not sure yet, it's definately revolution and something for the win though.

PS3 and Revolution. I was planning to buy only PS3 since it seems that it can satisfy all my gaming needs + graphicswise it can't be matched by anything, but since Revolution indroduces a completely different style of controls and play I'll have to buy it too.

PS3 + revolution combo 4 me.

I personnaly havent been that impressed with the 360 offerings and hopefully the revolution controller will open up a whole new level of experience.... or there will be hell to pay.

I just saw the controller 2 minutes ago, and after reading all the info one thing stood clear in my mind: PS3 and Revolution are my choices.

I'm suddenly incredibly excited for the next gen. :)

Exactly my choice, best graphics and best gameplay.. but maybe sony manages it to steal the revolution concept in time for the one console future. :lol

I was kinda interested in the X360 pre-TGS, but now I realise that I really don't give a shit about it. PS3 and Revolution, however, are looking nice.

Revolution is a sure purchase, and for the second console to complete the combo, I will have to wait to see what PS3 has planned for online and the system price is even ore important. Too high and I will settle for a less powerful system and get a 360, With XBox Live cant really go wrong.

Owning a PS3 and an Xbox, when each cost like $400 is just redundant. The Xbox will have a few exclusives, sure, but multiplatform games are just going to be better on the PS3--and most publishers have already said they're basing their stuff next gen on PS3 first. Plus PS3 will almost certainly have more exclusives I care about, like MGS and GTA. Therefore, I'll buy a PS3.

The Revolution seems like pure sex at the moment. Even if a third party game never graces it, I could last 5 years on just one solid game from each of Nintendo's usual suspects for an input scheme so intuitive. I'll absolutely buy a Rev, no matter what.

Therefore, this generation will be for me:
-Revolution for new fun, mostly quirky stuff
-PS3 for traditional console games/genres
-Xbox 360 not worth my money yet

The current handheld wars seem similar:
-DS for new, fun, mostly quirky stuff
-PSP for traditional console games/genres
-Gizmondo not worth my money yet (or ever)

All three for the win. Seriously, there will be enough exculsives on each to make owning them worthwhile and you won't get dragged into endless fanboy fights while you're enjoying them all.

Also, for those who won't own all three, it seems way too early to tell, since none are even out yet, and two aren't even remotely close to being out yet.

Exactly why I buy them all every single damn generation. It's easier on me in the end because I want to play everything that remotely interests me.

Hah.

At this point, I'm expecting a Revolution FPS to dethrone any other console FPS to date.

O_o

I hope we never realize a "one-console" future. It would probably be the end of the industry.

Yeah I'll definitely be doing the PS3 + Revolution combo. Xbox360 will likely be really similar to the PS3, except with the Xbox exclusives that I never much cared for. I figure Revolution will be $199.

I'll probably do what I did this gen and get the Microsoft system a few years later for the few exclusives that are must haves.

If Rev costs 199$ and is that small the graphics will probably be extremely dissapointing. I prefer to pay 299$ and have an impressive looking console than the alternative.

With PS3 you will get SCE first party games, PS3 3rd party exclusives and (in most cases) the superior version of multi-platform games.
With Revolution you will get Nintendo first party games, original 3rd party Revolution content , kickass party games, and I hope a version of SAMBA de AMIGO where you dual wield Rev controllers.

I'll probably pick up a 360 at some point. But after TGS it's no longer a priority for me because they showed me absolutely nothing that warrants me shelling out the cash for the system right now. I have been actively trying to pre-order a 360 premium pack ( no bundle for me) for a while now. Just one killer must have app on the show floor and the deal would have been sealed....Instead after TGS I've completely changed my mind and decided to go with the heavy hitters coming down the pipe for : PS2, DS, and PSP.

In a way DAMN you Microsoft because I love new HW and really wanted to get a 360. And in another way thanks, you are letting me hold on to about $600 backs that I can spend elsewhere.

I'm going with PS3/Revolution and yes, the Revolution looks the best ouf of the 3 next-gen consoles.
