In an interview with IGN, Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits said he's hopeful the PS5 Pro will improve Space Marine 2 by default via PSSR.

"Hopefully" or confirmed??
at least it'll run and look better than the xbox version.

what the actual fuck
Willits said Saber has no plans right now for Space Marine 2 to join the PS5 Pro Enhanced list, but did confirm that the company's engineers are in talks with Sony to work out if it's something they want to support.

This is one of the worst performing games on the PlayStation 5 - if not the worst performing (alongside final fantasy 16).

The fact that not only they're not working on a performance patch for the base PS5 but they don't even know if it's going to get a Pro enhancement is really something else...
Game sold like hot cakes, this shouldn't even be a discussion

This should be the case for every third party game using FSR and upscaling from a not too high internal resolution to be honest, i expect this to happen with Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk in case it gets patched, Wukong, and many more.

Not so much with the first party titles as Sony almost never (or never?) uses FSR on their games.

Do you understand what "by default" means?
Yes? They cant use PSSR without a pro patch so it will still use fsr. Internal ress is going to be higher ofc so it will look better but that article mentioned PSSR which cant be used without an update

Im really looking forward to this so im hoping they dont half ass it. But that piece leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully PSSR can work some magic.

What is quality mode like? If they believe performance mode can look better than quality mode.. is that decent enough?

We asked this non-technical guy what the thought the ps5 pro might do for space marine 2 and he said "how the fuck should I know, I'm a non-technical guy. But I hope it looks nice!"

I thought all games after July has to have mandatory pro support. Wasn't that a thing?
It just means that they used the new sdk and passed all new tests. It does not mean that all games need to be "PS5 Pro Enhanced" outside of the usual boost due to the higher spec.

How does he not know?
Don't they have dev kits?

Maybe because they asked the Chief Creative Officer. He said himself he's not a technical guy. He answered probably the same way people on this forum would, a reasonable take while having no idea what they are doing with it.

Yeah it won't do shit on it's own mr. developer. You have to implement it.

Pro boost mode will help games with dynamic resolutions and dynamic framerates but PSSR will not implement itself.

Pretty sure he meant that even if the team didn't do any other tweaks at all, Pro would still ("hopefully") result in an improvement just by switching on PSSR. No it doesn't happen automatically with an old game but compared to doing any actual work, it *does* implement itself.

They most likely don't have the dev kits yet. That's why he worded it the way he did.

I'd imagine they tie it in with some dlc they release. Space marine 2 seems like its team isn't very large and is being crushed/stunned by its massive success.
