PSO xbox, anyone still play it?

i had pso1 for the dc, but where i was living i was unable to go online.
i bought it for the xbox a year ago in a bargin bin but i did not even open it, i seem to remember that i bought something that was just released on the same day, but i forgot about it.

does Sega still support this?

didnt a pc version come out (jap only maybe?) and do people still play that?

i find pso to be a very relaxing 'rpg' (i use that in its widest possible meaning) and i would like to finally avail of its online component.

the character creation screen is perhaps my favourite in all of video games, so beautiful character designs and colour schemes.

is there any links to the PSO resources, im sure there must be some fan site...

what say you gaf?

blue burst is a port of the xbox version isnt it?
but does anyone still play on it?

whats the online component like? im slightly hesistant to buy that hunters license to find out the place is awash with cheaters, hackers, and general moronic behaviour...

although finding fresh meat to play it with now is not looking easy is it?

PSOX has way fewer player then any other current version. It's updated still but as usual since ST has to go through MS for the updates rather then directly they get stuff later then the GC version. BB is a port of the GC version but its pretty much the same as PSOX plus new stuffs of course.

so the GC is the one to get into if you are just starting out with PSO? DSL was not in my area until recently. or should i just wait for Blue Burst?

I still play it once or twice a week. I had to cut back cause I would spend 6-7 hours at a time on.

If you want to setup times to play, make a thread on the matchup board. I'll get on to get some exp. I need to get to level 200 before next month so I can retire.

I still play. Gamertag is ColdBlooded33. I play in the Davurite (sp?) ship on block 10 because i hear thats where the legit players go. I have a LVL 62 HUmar.

Thought I'd bump this instead of creating an all-new thread.

I saw a new copy of PSO for Xbox for sale recently at a Game Rush, and was wondering what the state of the game on Xbox was like. Rampant cheating? No one ever on, too many on? Does anyone play it regularly still? I don't even have an Xbox anymore, but I am on the fence about picking up a new one and this would tip the scales.

Any info out there?

Sure there are cheaters / hackers. But do what I do: Ignore them.

If you get in a game with one, leave. It's that simple. If you don't take weapons or items from people you don't trust, then I don't see the problem with the exploits that occur in the game.

There are some decent people to be found online, provided you're not a beggar and actually try to play the game (Rangers who head for the front line to kill, I'm looking at you. Mages who don't heal...you're especially evil.)

Just be respectful...there are still people playing, and still fun to be had. Go for it if you're willing to pay for the Hunter's License.

I played Blue Burst for a few months, but stopped after bumping the GAF thread for 4 weeks with no responses, assuming everybody died.

Hopefully PSU will kick major ass.

Yeah, this is motivated a great deal by the delay of PSU to the fall...and likely again to the Christmas season. I fooled around with PSO V2 on my Dreamcast recently, and even playing offline, 10 hours went by like nothing flat. It's a fun, simple, easy to get into game. I miss playing online; I think I may buy in to a Hunter's License.

On another note, anyone know if the Gamecube PSO is still played at all?

Oddly enough, I just played PSOX for the first time since 2/15/2005 last night.

Still on the hunt for a Spread Needle in ultimate ruins... I'll find that damned thing eventually.

Hardly anybody still uses Sega's servers. Most of the population there is JP with some stragglers from US & EU. All but dead. No new quests in almost a year now.

The free server on the other hand...... (dunno if we're allowed to talk about this further)

PSO XBOX was hacked to hell and back a month after release, I can't see any reason to play it.

On the other hand Blue Burst has moved character data to their servers so it can't be hacked so go for that.

I refuse to pay an extra free on top of Live to play.

Has anyone heard that FFXI for the 360 is going to be $11.99 a month to play, + $1 for every character you have?

On top of the Live fees? if not...then that's just like the PC version. I had 6 characters during the 9 or so months I played. Put in over 1000 hours on one, over 500 on another (lots of overnight bazaars (personal shops) on this one, tho), and the others where friends/family/mules

I charged them 3 bucks a month, for each, though

anyway...how does PSO for the XBox work? Can you play 4P split screen for free?

Hey Temp I'm in the same boat as you are. I know the game comes with two months free of PSO Hunter Pass or whatever and two months free of Live. If we can get a few other cats that are down we should do a two month gauntlet cause no fucking way I'm paying Sega for PSO, it's not an MMO it's a fucking limited scope online dungeon crawl. I mean my copy's just collecting dust so I gotta do it sometime. I had a couple extra copies that I got for friends so they would play with me but they didn't want to so I Walmarted em. :lol

Alright so a few things, PSO is a dungeon crawler, I know on DC cheaters couldn't really adversely effect you, it was more like they didn't earn their gear. Still if we just play with gaffers and other kind online citizens we should be fine. For me it's not about cheating or status or gear, it's about enjoying the dungeons and boss fights. I basically wanna run through the Eps completely before my two free months are up, I don't really have that much desire to play through the same dungeons over and over.

Anyways I'm definately in so anyone else who is interested go to the online matchup forum PSOX thread and we'll arrange matchups in there.

I'd love to know why this game is so loved.

I never got a chance to check it out.

I know its a MMORPG but not in the traditional sense...

I'd say an easy description is it's kinda like 4 Swords, a really fun multi co-op game. For some of us it was our first online console game and for me it was my first online RPG. I haven't played since EP 1 on DC though, I refuse to pay monthly for that game, it's good but not that good.

It's not an MMORPG, it's more along the lines of Diablo.
