So we all know PSP had great launch games. But even those are getting a bit old by now.... anyone know what's coming out over the next couple months?

They're all getting old now? You play through ALL of them? WOW. :D

Next up on the import scene are some games from EA, including Tiger Woods (who cares with Minna No Golf out) and Need For Speed Underground rivals. Then March should bring the U.S. launch games, and things will pick up from there.

Personally I'm fine with what I've got; I have six games to play through right now, and that's enough to last me several months already.

Indeed. PSP games have really good lasting value and take a long time to beat:

Lumines - Getting all the skins unlock is probably 40-100 hours
Minna no Golf - Unlocking all the courses takes forever. I only have 2/6 after 8 hours of playtime.
RR - Finishing all the tours must be like 20-30+ hours.
MGA - Supposedly about a 25 hour game, also has decent replay trying to collect all the cards.
Mojipittan - 100's of puzzles and the game is HARD. If you wanted to finish them all you're talking about 30+ hours

Then in Feb the Popolocrois pack is coming with 2 full 20+ hour rpgs on it.

After that the US launch will hit and add another 5-10 quality titles probably with lasting play value.

Heck, it usually takes me a few years with a system to get horribly backlogged. PSP is doing it in 4 months O.O

No way... I think you can probably do it in 20. I've got most of the stuff in less than 15 hours - just need to beat VS mode and get the 2nd bonus skin.

RR - Finishing all the tours must be like 20-30+ hours.
I think it's around 20 hours for 100% unlocking, but you can keep playing and playing to improve your rank score if you want (mine's only C+).

The other stuff I have is MinGol, MGA and Mojipittan. The latter is something that I won't play in big stretches, MGA is not an instant hook and MinGol is just MinGol - same old same old. I am waiting for the next wave of fresh titles like Vibri. Popolocrois should be good, but I have soooo many RPGs I need to play on my GBA it's not funny. Looking forward to the European launch though - Wipeout, Mercury etc are must buys for me. Just hope this region free thing is true in the end.

"Minna no Golf - Unlocking all the courses takes forever. I only have 2/6 after 8 hours of playtime."

and getting all the extra clothes/hair etc will take a while. I *love* mingol - it is the same old, but christ, what an addiction it's become...

My guy is playing in purple hair and a OL suit with a foxes tail.... he looks swass.

Next games - probably best to check www.game-science.com 's hatsubai list, but :

Ys
Some action game whose name i forget
NFSU
Tiger woods
Tower of Pergatory

and the big one....

DENSHA DE GO!!!

Oh lord, bring it!

Yeah I'm pretty bloated with Ridge and Lumines. I want a third game!

But I don't have the desire to pick up any of the ones that are currently out. I'd be buying it out of desperation. I think I'll give my PSP a break, and wait for the next wave...

Tales of Eternia? Popolocrois? GTA? Either one I guess.
The fact that they slapped a "2" on the Japanese packaging worries me about a no region code for games...

That's exactly what I was thinking too. Though if they are using the same numbers as DVD, then we might be able to play European games, at least ;)

I can't wait for the US launch. It'll bring some of the games I personally really want to play:

MVP Baseball
NFSU: Rivals
NBA Street
Mercury
Twisted Metal
Metal Gear Acid (ENGLISH!!!)

Honestly, none of the three consoles released with such a frequency of worthwhile games, and it seems the definition of "worthwhile" is being stretched because the PSP looks so cool playing anything.

Cue flood of "BUT SONY REPS SAID REGION FREE!!!1111" posts now. :D

I definitely want to see the PSP region free, but I won't be surprised if it ends up locked (or if certain games get locked), and I hope everyone that has a Japanese unit outside of Japan knew about a possibility of region-locked games when they purchased their systems.

Although I wonder if someone could make a hack easily loaded onto the memory stick to make everything region free, including DVDs?

No, the PSP actually got more than enough great titles for launch, making it the best system launch in years, portable or console, IMO.

that's somewhat harsh, given that Lumines, Ridge, Mingol are all defintely "worthwhile"

and MGS:AC!D is at least interesting, because it's a totally new take on the MGS series.

the rest would be stretching, although i really REALLY like Mahjong Fight Club.

It wasn't an insult, but a testament to the PSP's appeal. Not every game can be a blockbuster, but who's judging these titles anyway? This is the way we should game. Too many launch titles sell poorly because of the media. With the PSP, you guys have evaluated the lineup on your own as early adopters. There's a thread on this forum about how Dynasty Warriors is not all bad, and Tony Hawk's Underground 2 is like a revelation. Since when? That's the inherent appeal of playing a PSP.

Whether the titles are interesting to each of us or not, you can't deny that:

-Ridge Racers
-Minna No Golf
-Lumines
-Metal Gear Ac!d
-Shin Sangoku Musou
-Vampire Chronicle
-Mojipitan
-Puyo Puyo Fever
-Puzzle Bobble

(Did I miss anything?)

Are all quality games. Once the U.S. launch happens and the sports games are released, there's going to be something for everyone to enjoy.

I'm looking forward to Need For Speed Underground Rivals, NBA Street, NFL Street 2, Spider-Man, Mercury, Wipeout, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City, Namco Musuem, and Twisted Metal, all which should be available by March.

I can't think of that many games for one platform I would be interested in coming out within the next few months.

.

And that's what I'm saying. I'd like to try those games on the PSP as well. But on the PS2, most of them are multiplatform. I'd be more inclined to try out a game like Mercury. Completely original with no basis on another series I've played before.

i'm looking forward to wipeout and the domestic version of mg acid. i'll probably pick up vampire at us launch as well.

mingol really is addictive. golf games just work really well on a portable, and obviously this is much better than gba mario golf. i'm happy and surprised that it doesn't reuse any content from previous games. unlocking stuff takes too long, but at least it's perfectly straightforward, unlike mingol 4.

Can anyone tell me when the PSP is actually coming out here in the US? I mean, I haven't been reading the big ass threads here. Late March? Early April?
