PSP hardware revision + new colour

This is according to Yuiter.

There'll be a new-improved PSP model on sale at the end of this month. No explanation of which part is improved (though I hope they address the screen issues).

Also, around the end of March, a pink PSP will go on sale.

Black for me as well. I am a bit concerned that the "revision" fixes some problems that might still exist in the up and coming US hardware, however.

Argh.

They can only address screen issues if they decide to throw away more screens due to dead pixels. Not much you can do to prevent appearance of those during the manufacturing process. So, it's more of a financial decision than a technical one.

Ut oh

Pinku PSP with Jak and Daxter: Dog Herders or something

Somewhere out there, Mario sheds a tear and swears revenge

What about that rumor not too long ago about Sony using a "downgraded"/difference screen for the PSP to cut costs?

I think, realistically, a hardware "revision" this early simply means that they're addressing the square button issue.

There is no indication that this is a hardware revision. It might be a firmware update. Maybe unlocking the "hidden features" in the code -- browser and whatnot?

The revision could be purely design based having no affect on the previous releases except a different asthetic.

No, that issue was already addressed.

I'd pay $500 for a PSP with a 20 GB hard drive without even thinking twice. I hope they do something like this for the people who want it.

Oh, has it? I remember the statement issued by Sony reaching GAF, but I thought that was more of a "Yeah, we'll get to it soon," rather than an "It's done, established on the lines, happy day!"

Cool. So can we assume the U.S. models will be "fixed"?

Can't read what it saids, but does it specifically say hardware revision or just it'll be improved?

Can it simply be those email/browser upgrade that were in the work?

likewise, i'd pay a premium to get a TGS screen model.

Sakura fever... bit of a bummer - i'd prefer a White Day "White" model! :)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the US units are all of the newer variety, without the square button problems.

:O oooo, that'd be nice! :)

JPEG Bug :
start viewing Manga...
loads first one okay
loads second one okay
loads half the third one okay, the rest is blurry and doesn't update
reset out, come back in
repeat

Sometimes the Jpegs don't appear at all.

it's annoying when you are getting into a manga and it happens.

Does it just happen to manga?

Whee that's a pretty embarassing bug.
I mean JPeg libraries are freaking opensource, how hard is it to use the load function :\

Yeah, I'm after white too. Though I'd take that yellow they showed.

Agreed! :D

Yeah this was posted in the other thread, but here are the pics again:

There must be something wrong with me...I'm getting giddy just looking at the PSP itself...nevermind the games playing on the screen!

Dont worry, you have just joined the ranks. One of us!

I also think the U.S. PSP will be based on his hardware revision.
I'd say it's possible, since no one has actually seen a US PSP yet. Maybe the announcement for this supposed new model will come alongside the US launch.

But, I don't think it'll be the square button thing. Sony already did their part; stopped the button from "sticking" in on future units. Whether or not it "feels" different than the rest of the buttons probably isn't of their concern - it still works.

It's the US release that forced this redesign, and the new model in Japan will be the same one that the US receives.

The PSP had to be rendered incapable of firing UMD's in order to conform to tough new anti-terrorism laws.

indeed -

Double-U MDs were cut in half by the russians, transported to Japan, and now Sony will unleash devestating portable Single-U MDs on the unsuspecting American public.

Solution to this threat from Japan ? INVADE CUBA.

unresponsive/stuck/floaty square button

I bet this is what's being addressed, too. Glad it wasn't an issue with my system.

If it's something relating to the firmware, we can just download any updates. :)

If this Sakura PSP gets out of in japan i will pay a Jafer for one sent to my girlfriend. It would be a awsome b-day present.
