Today i've recieved a phonecall from my accountmanager at SCEE. Told me he had good news. So i replied, spill it man ! Right now SCEE is offering retailers a PSP + free SCEE game bundle to compensate for any excess stock in PSP hardware.

Usually SCEE helps clear any unsold hardware just before a pricedown ....... so

We've had this deal in Australia since early December too, it wouldnt surprise me to see it happen because even with a free game they're not moving anywhere near the numbers Sony would like.

Wait for it......WAIT FOR IT......

Yes,also in Italy a few important stores are selling it at 199€ although they say it's temporary (probably for overstocking).

I'll be pissed if the price drop is really big :lol A redesigned psp this early is wishful thinking. We probably won't get that until at least a couple of years or more.

And don't forget that besides a refresh on color/styling, there is not much that can be done to PSP in terms of mechanical concept. The UMD size + 16:9 screen shape combination dictates pretty much the device size and shape.

Try to shuffle the components around, and you'll be amazed - it's pretty hard to squeeze any size out because of the monster that is the UMD drive.

In fact, if there will ever be a PSP2, it will either

A. Be as big as PSP
B. Lose backwards compatibility

PSP is small enough as it is. Don't need to make it any smaller.

However, a redesign with a second analog nub added would be ACE. Developers could still make games with both PSP designs in mind.

Not really.
Just by using a shell design the length of the console would become the same of the screen which would be already a relevant reduction.

Anyway the PSP design is simply great,it's one of the most praised aspect of the console,so no need to change it now,it would only generate confusion.
