you read it here first!

scee is working on another psp exclusiv game - Pursuit Force. This Game was only shown as a Video to a few press members. in the game you contral a highway cop and you have to chase criminals. on the fly you can high jack other cars/motorbikes and even fight the criminals with guns. the action should look like the newer james bond movies and is presented with lots of matrix effects.

PSP should be great. But is anyone else a bit worried that Sony and 3rd parties might spread themselves too thin when it comes to PSP, PS2 and PS3 dev ??? (than would be if PSP didn't exist)...?

MS is trying to make it look like that in their last few interviews (hey, they have to spread FUD, they're launching at the end of the year), but Sony has been a juggernaut force in the console market during the last decade while being involved in a lot of different markets at the same time. It's the way they work. They just have different divisions for each market and hire new people if neccesary. The new market they're opening with the PSP will pay those extra workers and resources, while capturing some extra profit and expanding the Playstation brand (as if it was needed). So far PSP has been helping Sony's image.

As for the 3rd parties, they have to spread themselves between all the platforms. That affects Sony, MS and Nintendo in a similar way (not only Sony); but you have to remember that it is a different market with different groups working on it, and Sony's presence will probably expand it.

I saw that game actually running and it looks damn good!
Well, for more info:

Click "ENTER" and "GAMES". They will show it "soon". ...so, you have to wait a little bit! :-/
It is one of SCEEs biggest titles this year!!

This game looks like its getting the Killzone treatment - hype up the work of an inexperienced dev with first "look" being a leak of a blurry thumbnail-sized screen from video cap - for no apparent reason.

That page has been like that for at least the last 6 months.

SCEE Files For Pursuit Force

With roughly a week since a noteworthy filing, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today filed for the name “Pursuit Force.” The filing was made with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on January 31st, 2005. Check back for more news, as this slow day pushes on.

What, you think PS1 and PS2 moved all those units because of first-party Sony games? I mean, it's not garbage, but the games that have moved the systems have not come from Sony. As long as they can keep the third-parties around they'll be fine.

Why is it that SCEE is one of the worst development houses for Sony hardware? It just defies logic or reason.
Seriously, they should stick to developing technologies (Primal, Ghosthunter engine was very nice) but not develop any games.

Their best games this generation IMO are Eyetoy Groove, and Singstar.

Wipeut Pure looks nice, though.

Bigger devs won't care as they will just hire enough people to make games for whatever platform they feel like will sell. Smaller devs will simply pick one or two platforms and work for those. Later on, PS2 will be phased out anyways, and the situation will become even more clear.

I remember a screenshot appearing during December...Well..sounds interesting but I am more interested in the tech behind it than in the actual gameplay.

I liked Primal as a game a lot actually... Wipeout Pure looks hot and The Getaway 1 was quite enjoyable IMHO.

SCEE's internal studios have all just about bombed this generation -- GhostHunter was the closest to fun of their that I can think of on a big scale (their music games and EyeToy were cool this gen, however).

PF is being designed by BigBig, who are TOCA and Colin race game guys -- SCEE may not be great producers this gen, but these guys should be able to give the action-racer a good ride.

PSP IGN already has a page on this.

Pursuit Force

Sony Computer Entertainment puts you in the middle of high-speed chases as you race through city streets in dangerous pursuit of the criminal element. As a highway cop, you seize cars or motorbikes and engage in gun battles while in hot pursuit.

The first project from Evolution's "Devolution" studio BigBig (staffed by former members of Codemasters' TOCA and Colin McRae teams, and funded by coding house Evolution Studios), this project is an original title for the PlayStation Portable, combining character-based action and high-octane action inside and outside of automobiles.

Copy the URL to your browser :)

Edit: It seems it no longer works. At least for me it worked but now it doesn't.

Been playing Super Chase HQ and this game ABSOLUTELLY ROCKS. The jazz music, the enemy syle (they seem done by Technos), and the cool gameplay :) Awesome game.

His link works. Just use common sense and copy it to another browser. These image linking services almost never allow for hotlinking.

How many times do we have to hear excuses for SCEE. :lol They can make good looking games. How about games that play well?

best psp game to date! its so f*cking incredible. its not only a racing game, tha main gameplay is the jumping and hi-jacking of other cars. there are even shooter sequences within the gameplay.

the visuals looks superb, smooth framerate, speech and soundtrack from richard jacques (!!!). it plays really nice and reminds a lot of old arcade games like chase hq.

btw. the developers are really nice guys. buy this game!
